Week Five - March 2006

The Auckland Grammar School Athletic team enjoyed a very success Zone Meeting at Mt Smart on 10 March 06.

It was very pleasing to see Grammar Athletics dominated most races and the icing on the cake was the records set by M Mildenhall in the 1500 meters and S Kalamafoni in the senior boys' shot put. A full report and photos can be seen under ATHLETICS on the website.

The rowers are at the North Island Secondary Schools Championships this weekend and seem on track for a successful Maadi Cup at the end of the month. The Under 15 eights seem to be our strongest crew and Coach Kirsty Dunhill is expecting big things from these boys.

Several of the schools CRICKETERS were recognised across stage for their outstanding performances, these are listed below:

Bowling

D Goddard - 7 for 64 for the 1st X1 against Westlake
S Slaimankhel - 8 for 25 for 2A1 against Kings College
N Smith - 7 for 21 for 5A2 against St Peters College

Batting

S Gamage - 106 for the 1st X1 against Kings College
M Kavana Thomas - 100 for the 2nd X1 against Liston College 1st X1 and 119 for the 2nd X1 against St Kentigern College 2nd X1
P Thornton - 104 for the 2nd X1 against Liston College 1st X1
J Neesham - 103 for the 2nd X1 against Rangitoto 1st X1
M Hall - 100 for 6A2 against Mt Roskill

The Senior Waterpolo team remain unbeaten in their competition and will be one of the sides to beat in the North Island and New Zealand Championships later this term.
