  Thomas Vitale Bio

Currently Senior Vice President of Programming at the SCI FI Channel, Thomas Vitale is responsible for the acquisition and scheduling of all programming on the Channel. His duties also include some original series/movie development, as well as current programming responsibility for a number of the Channel’s original series, including Farscape, the network's biggest hit.

Vitale has worked in television since 1987, with stints at Viacom, in program syndication, and NBC. Vitale has an extra-curricular interest in theater, and recently co-produced an Off-Off Broadway play, Dyslexic Heart. A graduate of Williams College, Vitale sits on the board of the Williams Club, and is the NYS Vice President of Fieri National, an Italian-American service, cultural and charitable organization. In his spare time, Vitale writes, runs, and watches way too much television.

A long time fan of the SF short story genre, Vitale was excited to discover new authors through the Phobos Fiction Contest. “I love the short story form.” He says, “You can explore more ideas through it. I like hearing new voices. What appealed to me most was having 20 ideas to explore, 20 worlds, 20 different voices, and 20 that I hadn’t heard before. That was a lot of fun.”
