Students of O'Sensei - Morihei Ueshiba (1883 - 1969)

I join the many Aikidoka around the world in the sadness of the passing of the 2nd Doshu of Aikido, Kisshomaru Ueshiba, on the 4th of January 1999.
The 3rd Doshu of Aikido, Moriteru Ueshiba was formally installed to the position on the 18th January 1999.

Here is list of Uchi-deshi or "live in students" of O'Sensei from 1921 - 1969. Please note that I am making a distinction between the 'uchi-deshis' and the students who just attended the classes by Osensei. This distinction is not meant to be a slight on anyone, but it made as a matter of fact, plus the fact that, there a probably thousands of people who have trained with Osensei. I don't think I could list them all and do them proper justice. For a definition of "Uchideshi", please click here to go to the Aikiweb. I believe this is a general definition.

This list is complied as a matter of personal interest. The list is not exhaustive, and if I have left anyone out, or mis-spelled anyone's name, please excuse me, and email me with the relevant information. And I will make the necessary amendments. Also the  information is not definitive, I rely on the accuracy of the sources that I get them from.

There are considered 4 generations of students, 2 before World War II, and 2 after. The dates indicate when the Uchi deshi first began training in Aikido (or Aikibudo as it was known before 1942) with O'Sensei. There could be others whom I am not aware of, and I am constantly researching and updating my list. I am also updating the references of my information so please be patient. And because there will be new information as I do this please expect the list to change from time to time as I verify the sources.
Clicking on the names will bring you to the source of the information on the Internet. If the names have a number, the number will indicate an alternative reference, which might show a different piece of information.

Please note that sometimes the students would have started in aikido at a different time as becoming a uchideshi. If there is such a difference, there would be two dates given, otherwise it is assumed that the single date is both the starting date and the date the student became a uchideshi of Osensei.
The dates indicate when the student started aikido.
The dates in parenthesis indicate when the student became a uchideshi.
I have arranged the dates in with reference to the date the students become Uchideshis.
