Sceptical Climate Science Discussion Group
22nd November 2002
The 22nd November was the 1st Anniversary of the "Sceptical
Climate Science" discussion group.
The discussion group is for climate scientists and other
participants interested in discussing scientifically (pro
and against) Climate Change, Climate Science (Climatology)
and adjoining scientific issues, media features and politics.
The group has about 100 members world wide. The members are
university professors, other scientists and researchers, specialised
in Climatology, but also other scientists, meteorologists,
geologists, computer scientists, etc. and policy analysts,
engineers, scientific editors and journalists, civil servants
etc.
Further, about 200 scientists have participated in or been
connected to the discussions.
Climatology is a typical cross-scientific branch. The discussions
handle all the adjoining branches, too, e.g. meteorology,
geology, history, mathematics, statistics, oceanography, ecology,
biology, chemistry, physics, astrophysics, solar, planetary
and galactic cosmic ray studies, etc.
The members have evaluated the IPCC papers, the NAS Reports,
and almost every new study of interest.
The members discuss and debate about Climate Politics, about
the IPCC, UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol, about economics,
technologies, societal sciences, etc.
Topics of discussions are also Ethics in Sciences, scientific
methods, common sense and logical thinking (or of the lack
of those).
Of special interest are the climate models and the future
projections.
The members have released many scientific studies and evaluations,
e.g.

For critical and sceptical views in Climatology "the
Future Outlook is Fine".
Nowadays the IPCC urges: " In the fourth assessment,
we will be trying to encourage the critical community .."
(Dr. Geoffrey Love, Secretary of the IPCC, August 9, 2002).
