Geneva Convention of 1929 proclaims that members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those unable to fight due to wounds or sickness – as long as they do not undertake hostile actions – should be treated humanely. However, the Germans ruthlessly murder insurgents as “bandits and terrorists”. On September 2, a similar fate befalls the patients of the biggest Old Town insurgent hospital at 7 Długa St. SS-men commanded by Hauptsturmfuehrer Kotschke capture the building. They order the staff and the lightly wounded to leave the building. The remaining 300 patients are murdered.
