On August 5, 1944, the Germans organize in Pruszków a transit camp for civilians Durchgangslager – Dulag 121. The first transport arrives on August 6. The living conditions in the Railway Stock Workshops are terrible. The total number of prisoners going through the camp is approximately 650 thousand people, including 550 thousand Varsovians. The evacuated have to go through a “selection.” Approximately 150 thousand people are sent to the Third Reich for forced labor and to concentration camps. About 100 thousand are released or illegally taken out. Other prisoners are sent to remote areas of Poland. The camp is liquidated on January 17, 1945.
