Weapons of Mass Destruction: Australia's Role in Fighting Proliferation

Practical responses to new challenges

Introduction

Weapons of Mass Destruction: Australia's Role in Fighting Proliferation was launched by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Downer, at the National Museum of Australia on 10 October 2005. Curbing the spread of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is one of the greatest security challenges facing the international community today. The paper, which can be downloaded below, highlights the extent and nature of the contemporary threat posed by WMD and Australia's multidimensional strategy to address that threat.
