Where Do I Get Involved in Activities?

The Student Activities Center (130 Mass. Ave.) runs the Student Organizations and Activities Program (SOAP), which has been developed to broaden, enrich, and support students’ educational experience.

With student interest, many clubs and organizations have developed and many others are possible. Students who are interested in joining existing clubs, have an idea for a club or organization, or would like further information, may contact the director of student activities. Student Activities also keeps the schedules of dining hall (or "Cafe") shows, offers leadership workshops, recreation and fitness opportunities, and works with the student government.

If you have any questions about student activities, please send a message to us at studentactivities@berklee.edu.

And for those of you ready to participate in the democratic process, be sure to request a voter registration form online.

Cafe Shows

After 10:00 p.m., the Dining Hall becomes Berklee's own nightclub, hosting student performances, revues and all-out parties. Almost any night of the week you'll find something happening there as part of the Cafe Show program.

Leadership Workshops

In order to succeed in the competitive world of music, you must understand and possess the ability to communicate clearly, make a positive impression and inspire those around you. The Student Activities Center organizes an extensive program of workshops focused on various aspects of leadership to help you in your academic and career pursuits.

Student Government

Berklee's broad-based system of governance relies on participation from all areas of the college community. The Council of Students represents the voice and perspectives of students regarding all of the issues reviewed by the college. Students are also asked to serve on a wide variety of college committees that advise administrators on such topics as the college's master plan, honorary degree recipients, Web site, and academic and student policies. And many of our student leaders have opportunity to meet with the president, vice presidents and trustees during the academic year to discuss current issues, concerns and institutional activities.

Recreation and Fitness Opportunities

Although the college does not have a full-fledged fitness facility on campus, there are several nearby facilities which offer you reduced rates for membership and usage, such as the Tennis and Racquet Club, Boston Kung-Fu Tai-Chi Institute, the Sheraton Pool and Health Club, Fitcorp Fitness Center, and the YMCA. In addition, several student clubs focus on recreation activities such as soccer, inline skating, basketball, softball, and yoga.
