1922 - [1944] H.M. Sultan 'Abdu'l-Majid Khan II, Commander of the Faithful and Khalif of the Prophet of the Lord of the Universe and 37th Head of the Imperial House of OSman. b. at Dola Bahche, Palace, Constantinople, 29th May 1868, educ. privately. Became Vali Ahad-i-Sultanat (Crown Prince) 4th July 1918, Elected as Khalif by the Turkish Nationalist Assembly at Ankara, 19th November 1922. Invested at Istanbul, 24th November 1922. Deposed and expelled from the shores of Turkey with the rest of his family, 3rd March 1924. General, Ottoman Army. Hon. Chairm. Ottoman Artist's Soc. Painter, his portraits of Beethoven, Goethe and Yavuz Sultan Salim were displayed at the Vienna Exhibition of 1918. Rcvd: the Collar of the Hanedan-i-Ali-Osman and the Nishan-i-Ali-Imtiaz. m. (first) at the Ortakoy Palace, 22nd December 1896, H.H. Shahsuvar Bash Kadin Effendi (b. at Constantinople, 2nd May 1881: d. at Paris, 1945). m. (second) at the Ortakoy Palace, 18th June 1902, Hair un-nisa 2nd Kadin Effendi (b. at Panderma, 2nd March 1876; d. at Nice, France, 3rd September 1936). m. (third) at Chamlidcha Palace, Scutari, 16th April 1912, H.H. Atiya Mihisti 3rd Kadin Effendi (b. at Adarpazari, 27th January 1892; d. at London, 1964), sister of Kamil Bey. m. (fourth) at Chamlidcha Palace, Scutari, 21st March 1921, Bihruz 4th Kadin Effendi (b. at Izmir, 24th May 1903). He d. at his house in the Boulevard Suchet, Paris XVIe, France, 23rd August 1944 (bur. Haram-i-Sharif, Medina), having had issue, and only son:
 
[1944 - 1954] H.I.H. Prince Ahmad Nikhad Effendi, 38th Head of the Imperial House of Osman. b. at the Ciragan Palace, Ortakoy, 6th July 1883, eldest son of H.I.H. Prince Muhammad Salah ud-din Effendi, by his first wife, Naziknaz Khanum Effendi, educ. privately. Colonel of Infantry, Ottoman Army. Rcvd: the Collar of the Hanedan-i-Ali-Osman and the Nishan-i-Ali-Imtiaz. Succeeded on the death of his cousin as Head of the Imperial House of Osman, 23rd August 1944. m. (first) at the Ciragan Palace, Ortakoy, 30th January 1902, H.H. Safru Khanum Effendi (b. at Batum, Caucasus, 5th August 1884; d. at Alexandria, Egypt, 15th Novermber 1975). m. (second) at the Ortakoy PAlace, 28th March 1914, Navrastan Khanum Effendi (b. at Panderma, 28th May 1895). He d. at Beirut, 4th June 1954, having had issue, an only son:

Prince Muhammad Salah ud-din Effendi, by his fourth wife, Calefer Khanum Effendi, educ. Imperial Military Coll., Potsdam and Officer's Sch., Berlin. General, Ottoman Cavalry, Cdt. at Tripoli. Major à la suite of the Hussar Rgt. Prussian Gardes du corps. Succeeded on the death of his elder half-brother as Head of the Imperial House of Osman, 1954. Rcvd: the Collar of the Hanedan-i-Ali-Osman, the Nishan-i-Ali-Imtiaz, the Murassa of the Nishan-i-Osmani and Murassa of the Nishan-i-Majidi, GC Order of Leopold of Austria (1917), and Knt. Order of the Iron Cross of Prussia. m. at the Fariya Palace, Besiktas, 26th March 1920 (div. at Paris, 22nd November 1932), Nabila Karima Khanum Effendi (b. at Halki, 8th March 1898 (m. second, at Cairo, 4th June 1934, H.H. Prince Yusuf Kamal Pasha of Egypt, only son of Prince Ahmad Kamal Ahmad Rifat Pasha), second daughter of H.H. Prince Muhammad 'Abbas Halim Pasha, Governor-General of Bursa and Min. for Public Works, by his wife H.H. Princess Khadija Khanum, second daughter of H.H. Muhammad Tewfiq Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, Sovereign of Nubia, of the Sudan, of Kordofan and of Darfur, GCB, GCSI. He d.s.p. Nice, France, 22nd May 1973 (bur. Bobigny Cemetery, Paris).
 
 
[1973 - 1977] H.I.H. Prince Muhammad 'Abdu'l-Aziz Effendi, 40th Head of the Imperial House of Osman. b. at the Ortakoy Palace, 26th September 1901, eldest son of Rear-Admiral H.I.H. Prince Muhammad Saif ud-din Effendi by his first wife, Nazima Faleka Bas Khanum Effendi, educ. Galatasaray Coll., Constantinople. Succeeded on the death of his cousin, 19th May 1973. m. at Cairo, Egypt, 21st February 1929, Bar-Kamal Khanum Effendi (b. at Cairo, Egypt, 16th March 1911; d. 13th January 1962), daughter of Riza Bey Yeghen, by his wife, Princess Zubaida. He d. at Nice, France, 19th January 1977, having had issue, an only daughter:
 
[1977 - 1983] H.I.H. Prince 'Ali Vassib Effendi, 41st Head of the Imperial House of Osman. b. at Ciragan Palace, Ortakoy, 14th October 1903, only son of H.I.H. Prince Ahmad Nikhad Effendi, 38th Head of the Imperial House of Osman by his first wife, H.H. Safiru Khanum Effendi, educ. Galatasaray and Habibiya Colls., Constantinople. Succeeded on the death of his cousin as Head of the Imperial House of Osman, 19th January 1977. Lieut. of Infantry, Ottoman Army. Rcvd: the Nishan-i-Ali-Imtiaz. m. at Nice, France, 24th April 1931, H.I.H. Princess Amina Mukbila Sultana (b. at Dolmabace Palace, Yildiz, 17th September 1911; d. at Istanbul, 21st May 1995), only daughter of Colonel H.I.H. Prince Omar Hilmi Effendi, by his wife, Gul-i-Nav Bash Khanum Effendi. He d. at Alexandria 9th December 1983, having had issue, an only son:
 
[1983 - 1994] H.I.H. Prince Muhammad Orkhan Effendi, 42nd Head of the Imperial House of Osman.  b. at Saranjabey Palace, 11th July 1909, eldest son of Colonel H.I.H. Prince Muhammad 'Abdu'l-Kadir Effendi, by his third wife, Mihrban Khanum Effendi. educ. Galatasaray and Habibiya Colls., Constantinople. Succeeded on the death of his cousin, 9th December 1983. m. (first) January 1933 (div. 1947) Nafiza Khanum Effendi (b. at Cairo, 1913), daughter of Riza Bey Yeghen. m. (second) at Paris, 1943 (div. 1948), Margaretha Irma Khanum Effendi, née Fournier. m. (third) … He d. at Nice, France, 12th March 1994, having had issue, one son and one daughter:

Prince Muhammad Burhan ud-din Effendi, by his second wife, 'Aliya Malik Nazliyar Khanum Effendi  alias "Yalcin", daughter of Husain Bey, educ. Theresianum Acad., Vienna and École Sciences Politiques, Paris. Succeeded on the death of his cousin, 12th March 1994. m. (first) at New York, 20th January 1947, Gulda Khanum Effendi (b. at Johannesburg, South Africa, 20th March 1915; d. at New York, 16th September 1985), née Twerskoy. m. (second) at New York, USA, 27th September 1991, Zainab Khanum Effendi (b. at Istanbul, 16th December 1940), former wife of Dr Azim Khan Etemadi, daughter of Sardar 'Abdu'l-Fattah Tarzi - see Afghanistan (Tarzi), by his wife Dr Pakize Tarzi, daughter of Izzet Saltik.
