Skylands Bicycle Club is planning it's second weekend cycling tour! Save the weekend of August 12-14, 2005 and join your club members in a weekend of camaraderie and scenic riding through rural Lehigh, Berks and Schuylkill counties in Eastern PA. Here are the planned highlights:
  • Friday evening, August 12, gather at the Trexlertown Velodrome and view the Madison races.
  • Set up camp at nearby Blue Rocks Family Campground (2 night stay); motel option available in Kutztown, or Bed & Breakfast option near Hawk Mountain.
  • Saturday, August 13, challenging 60-70 mile scenic ride (2 major climbs) around Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and surrounding area just southeast of Pottsville. Alternate shorter route available along with hiking or sight seeing options for non-riding family members.
  • Saturday evening meal at Deitsch Eck-----genuine home cooked PA Dutch meals!
  • Sunday, August 14, beautiful 40 mile ride around rolling PA farmland south of Lenhartsville. Crystal Cave option for non-riders.
  • Return for catered BBQ at campground prior to Sunday afternoon departure.
We are working on the price and will notify members shortly. The estimated campground fees per person for the weekend are $20. But please save the date since the rides are superlative and the company will be excellent.
If you're ready to commit, or for more information, please contact John Norwig at Norwig@co.somerset.nj.us, and please state your overnight preference (camping, B&B or motel).
