The Glen Echo Fire Department is located in a corner of Montgomery County, with the Washington, DC / Maryland line to our south, Cabin John to the north, several miles of the Potomac River to the west, and Bethesda to the east. Our department covers Glen Echo, as well as areas of Bethesda, Cabin John, and mutual aid response into Washington, DC. We have several noted and historical sites in our first due, including the Capital Crescent Trail, the C & O Canal, Clara Barton's house, and Glen Echo Park.
The Glen Echo Fire Department is staffed by both volunteers and career Montgomery County employees assigned to Glen Echo. The career staff guarantees minimum manning on our first due engine company and ambulance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our volunteers supplement the career staff, thereby maximizing the level of service you, our citizens, receive. Our active volunteers are required to stand duty on a night crew one night a week and must complete and maintain all training requirements set forth by Montgomery County and the State of Maryland. Collectively, we refer to our volunteers and the gifted Montgomery County career staff assigned to us as personnel working together for the common good of the community.
