NHL Entry Draft
Defenceman Erik Johnson, who has the size and talent to be another Chris Pronger, was the No. 1 pick in the NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues.
Hockey Hall of Fame
Patrick Roy's entry to the Hockey Hall of Fame was a slam dunk, as its selection committee chose the National Hockey League's winningest goaltender for induction on Nov. 13. Original Six star forward Dick Duff, the late Herb Brooks, and Calgary Flames governor Harley Hotchkiss were also chosen for induction into the Hall.
The Stanley Cup Final
The Carolina Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final.
