XPLOSIV INVADES RETAIL WITH IT’S 250TH TITLE!
London, 29th November 2004 – Xplosiv, the multi- format value range from Empire Interactive, has established itself as one of Europe's foremost labels with the news that has now released 250 games in total and six million units sales to date.
The 250th game to be published under the Xplosiv name was, perhaps appropriately for a milestone title, Space Invaders Anniversary, itself celebrating its 25th year. Space Invaders Anniversary forms part of Xplosiv's Christmas Campaign this year, which offers a free game packaged with every title in the shops, both in its £9.99 range and the hugely popular £4.99.
"We're very proud of what we have achieved with Xplosiv," says Ian Higgins, CEO of Empire Interactive. "When we started, there was little pricing flexibility in the PC budget market, and little in the way of value-priced PS2 software at all. We're glad we were in at the start of the value-publishing phenomenon and we have some big and radical plans to grow the range even more as we go into 2005".
Empire Interactive launched the Xplosiv label in January 2000 with ten titles at £4.99, including Flying Corps, Cricket Captain and Apache Havoc. These first ten games were immediately successful, sufficiently so to encourage Empire to release 30 titles in the year 2000 alone.
Xplosiv positioned its range at the two price points of £9.99 and £4.99 in 2001, and in late 2002 added PlayStation 2 titles into the range, at £9.99 and £19.99. "It is clear that Xplosiv's range is here to stay as a major force in British games publishing, achieving an astonishing six million unit sales to date" says Xplosiv Product Manager Joanne Fawell.
