How to Order
It was April 1, 1969, a mild spring day in Seattle when American Eagles Military Hobbies first opened it's door. As it was, that door just happened to be the basement of the Edwards family home. At that time the store only measured 200 square feet, half of which was dedicated to work space, and only stocked model aircraft mostly imported from England and Japan. Later that same year the inventory was expanded to include armor models that were just starting to be produced and growing in popularity. During the early years the "business" was only intended to support a growing addiction to building model aircraft. With the ability to buy kits at wholesale and sell them to other addicts at a small profit, Edwards was able to satisfy his addiction for hard to find models. Within a year business was growing as fast as the inventory, it was time to find a larger space to accommodate all the domestic and imported kits that American Eagles was accumulating. That was the start to a vicious cycle that took American Eagles from it's 200 square foot start, through seven moves to progressively larger quarters. Ending at our present location in the Lake City area of North Seattle, where we have an impressive 7500 square feet sales floor and over 10,000 square feet of warehouse space. Along with those moves came a lot of change. The inventory was expanded to include every type of plastic static display model kit available, fro aircraft, armor, automobile, ships, space craft, sci-fi, and buildings along with every brand of hobby paint and a large selection of tools, customizing supplies and accessories. During the extensive growth periods, American Eagles stopped being a "hobby" and became the full blown business that has become American Eagles, Inc.. Different product lines were introduced over the years which include games and gaming supplies from historical military games to fantasy and role playing games and miniatures. A full line of railroad products was introduced that include N, HO, 027, and G scale locomotives, rolling stock, track and accessories along with large ready to run sets. A large selection of die cast cars, wooden ships, model rockets and pine car derby supplies were also brought on board to round out an already overflowing inventory. Every April 1st, we look back at our humble beginnings and dream of the future and celebrate with a once a year sale. No one knows for sure where this ride will end, but it sure has been an interesting trip. Come visit our store or shop online through our web site. We hope to serve all your hobby needs!
