Call for Submissions: Paper Tiger #4

Posted: Tuesday, August 15
By: Darren Schroeder
Print This Item

Paper 4 has begun, and you are needed! The latest issue will be an A5 book style format (with a spine) with FULL colour cover, 72 pages, ISBN number, greyscale professional quality printing + a free CD (primarily from contributors to the comic who also make music/are in bands) of underground music spanning many genres, but quirky, interesting & weird, just like the comic.

This issue will be a bigger print-run and have better nationwide & international distribution.

Contributors will include Lorna Miller, Stella Starr, Bob Byrne, Paul O Connell, Clive Scruton, Cyriak & many, many more.

It is in your own interests to produce something special for this one, as this one will be aimed at a wider number of retailers & will be a professional looking & groundbreaking anthology in terms of style, quality & content.

Submissions need to be A5 size and up to 4 pages in length.

DEADLINE FOR PAPER TIGER 4 IS NOVEMBER 30th.

Call for Submissions: War - All Proceeds to Campaign Against the Arms Trade

Posted: Tuesday, August 15
By: Darren Schroeder
Print This Item

CALL TO ALL COMIC ARTISTS & ILLUSTRATORS!

Paper Tiger Presents "WAR" is a non-profit fundraiser comic with all proceeds going to Campaign Against The Arms Trade (CAAT). The anthology will be an A5 format book style anthology of around 60-72 pages, with full colour cover & quality greyscale printing. Varied themes are encouraged; anti-war, satirical, pastiches of old propaganda war comics & films, factual, educational & hardhitting or with fictional universal themes. Weirder, more surreal strips & illustrations & more lighthearted ones are also encouraged.

Strips can be about overseas conflict, the arms trade , globalisation, media or even inner conflicts that people wrestle with day to day. Illustrations are also acceptable. The hope is to create an intelligent, challenging anthology to promote awareness & express strong views but also to entertain & be diverse without being overly preachy. It is hoped that people will recognise that this project to help support an worthwhile organisation committed to fighting the global armstrade, and in the spirit of goodwill will contribute something for it.

CAAT are trying to cut down the world's use of arms through supporting direct action, community projects & education about who is selling arms to who, our own government & companies connections to arms dealing & what these arms are capable of.

For more info about CAAT visit their website:
http://www.caat.org.uk/

I'm also thinking of having a free music CD with the comic on the War theme if there's enough interest, support & funds to make them.

Please get in touch with your contributions and spread the word!

DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 25th.

Call for Submissions: Worlds Worst Love Stories

Posted: Tuesday, August 15
By: Darren Schroeder
Print This Item

"WORLDS WORST LOVE STORIES" is a new Paper Tiger Theme anthology. The anthology is to be a lighthearted, humourous, bizarre or bittersweet anthology on whatever you deem to be a worlds worst love story...

The strips could be true, autobiographical, absurd, comedy/tragic, slightly-sentimental, weird, sinister, warped or downright hysterical....the most unlikely & bizarre stories are welcome!

The first stories we have planned for the anthology are a tragi-comedy-come crime-of passion between a mermaid & a sailor entitled "Low Down Dirty Sea -Dog" & "Wild Love" a woman who falls for a neanderthal.

let your imagination run riot: real-life unrequited quasimodos. amorous androids. soft-centred traffic wardens, old fashioned courting aliens, opposites attract taken to extremes, backfiring valentines, unlikely heartthrobs, 50's/60's pulp romance send-ups, temptresses, exotica gone bad, 50's film style shock romance (ie:"i married a deadman"), incompatable couples...whoever, whatever it's up to you.

The weirder, more bizarre, clever & innovative the better, it would be good to push the envelope in terms of ideas, quality & art.

The anthology will be A5 black & white/greyscale with colour cover..

Contributors are allowed up to 6 pages for a strip. 1 page illustrations are welcome too

Deadline for this anthology is 12TH DECEMBER, hopefully we can get printed up in time for XMAS, failing that VALENTINES DAY!

Call for Submissions: Tales of Terror

Posted: Tuesday, August 15
By: Darren Schroeder
Print This Item

"Tales of Terror" is a new Paper Tiger Horror Theme anthology. The anthology is to be a mixture of scary & original horror stories & art (this can be psychological horror, paranormal/supernatural, creatures etc), & more tongue-in-cheek, satirical & also homage style strips (B-movie style horror stories & art are welcome, as are EC style strips)...zombies, demons, ghosts, serial killers, stalkers, war, werewolves, satan, witches, ghouls, halloween, sadists, dungeons, headless horseman, brain sucking aliens, genetic mutations, H P Lovecraft-esque demon-gods....even hairy toast...all are welcome subject matter or whatever else depravity you can think up.

The weirder, more bizarre, clever & innovative the better, it would be good to push the envelope in terms of ideas, quality & art.

The anthology will be A5 black & white with colour cover.

We've already had a couple of contributions.

Contributors are allowed up to 6 pages for a strip. 1 page illustrations are welcome too

Deadline for this anthology is 31st September, hopefully we can get printed up in time for Halloween!
