You Can’t Beat the Taste… of Victory!

Melbourne Victory today announced the signing of KFC as the club’s sleeve sponsor for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.

The sponsorship deal capped off a big week for the Melbourne side which saw it complete the signing of its 20 man roster with former Melbourne Knights captain Roddy Vargas and the club’s third Brazilian import, Alessandro.

Club Chairman, Geoff Lord, heralded the deal as highly significant, and said that the high quality of sponsorships the club was able to generate was a real positive for the future of Melbourne Victory.

“There’s no doubt that the World Cup has sparked enormous interest in the game here in Australia,” Lord said. “But without a vibrant Hyundai A-League, there would be few opportunities for companies such as KFC to connect with the game locally.”

“Melbourne Victory provides sponsors with local access to the biggest sport on the planet. The excitement generated by sell out crowds at Olympic Park last season is certainly something sponsors can look to and want to be associated with.”

“With the excellent recruitment program we’ve conducted in the off-season, we’re confident of even greater success both on and off the pitch this season.”

The financial details of the deal would not be released, but the club insists that the figure is highly significant.

“It’s a significant investment by KFC in the future of Melbourne Victory, and we thank them for this sponsorship support,” Lord said.

KFC spokesman, George Neofytou, was pleased to confirm the sponsorship deal at Melbourne Victory’s home ground, Olympic Park Stadium.

“We’re delighted with this association with Melbourne Victory,” Neofytou said. “KFC is a recognised brand internationally, and to link locally with Melbourne Victory and the world game is an excellent fit for us.”

“KFC is united behind Melbourne Victory for the forthcoming season and we look forward to a long-term association with the club.”

“Our new slogan is ‘You Can’t Beat The Taste’,” Neofytou said. “And we hope that other Hyundai A-League teams can’t beat Melbourne Victory this season.”
