Lil' He: A Child Gangsta Rapper

XXL.com informs of the child G-Unit gansta rapper Lil' He. Lil' He is an 8 or a 9 year old that has a song out featuring him acting like he is all hard and some sort of gangster. Hearing a child talk about "smokin'" people is not believable.

Children rappers are just a short novelty gimmick of the music industry. No child rapper has had any sort of a lasting career. If Lil' He is successfull it will show how baseless and lazy the average rap consumer is.

You can check out his myspace page: Lil' He @ MySpace

Lieberman the Senate Dropout

Lawrence O'Donnell writes that Lieberman will drop out of the race recently. O'Donnell states that Lieberman will have lost any party support now to Ned Lamont the party's chosen candidate.
Joe Lieberman will drop out. He probably knows right now that the day will come in late September when he will announce his withdrawal from the race. No one is going to have to talk him into it. By that time, the Democratic Party power structure will be doing its thing for Ned Lamont and Lieberman will be trailing by double digits.

It won’t be a hard decision for Lieberman. He will drop out to avoid career-ending humiliation.

Lieberman came within four points of Lamont by climbing up on the shoulders of the biggest names in the party including Clinton—Bill and Hillary. Lieberman’s TV commercial starring Bill Clinton was his best. Now, both Clintons and everyone else in the Party are carrying Lamont on their shoulders. By late September, Bill Clinton will be onstage hugging his new best friend and starring in Lamont commercials. Connecticut’s much better liked senator, Chris Dodd, will be campaigning for Lamont this time. The Clinton and Dodd defections will cost Lieberman ten points in Connecticut. If Dick Cheney continues to say nice things about Lieberman, it’ll cost him another ten points. And Lieberman campaigning alone, all alone, will look bitter, very bitter. His smile will look faker than ever. Voters aren’t drawn to bitter.
Lieberman has said he will not quit but Bill Weld said he would not quit in his run for Governor after the party convention chose Faso.

Castro's Not Dead Yet

Castro's lackeys think he will get better.
HAVANA (Reuters) - Cuban officials said an aging and ailing Fidel Castro was recovering and could return to power in a few weeks, even though he remained out of sight five days after surgery that forced him to put his brother in charge of the country.
Supporters of government officials tend to exaggerate the prospects of a recovery process. Sharon and Arafat were both said to be recovering right before they died.
Cuban National Assembly President Ricardo Alarcon said Fidel came through the "complicated" surgery so well that a few hours afterwards "he was talking, he was making jokes."
...
"I was told Fidel is doing better, he has eaten something and sat up," one source told Reuters, asking not to be identified.
These anecdotes alone do not prove that Fidel Castro is getting better.

Rapper Pitbull Addresses Castro Stepping Down

Recently Cuban dictator Fidel Castro has stepped down from office. The Cuban government claims it is temporary but my guess is that it will be permanent. Rappers are known to react quicly to current events and the Miami rapper Pitbull has done just that:
Less than 24 hours after news that Cuban dictator Fidel Castro had temporarily stepped down, Miami rapper Pitbull released Ya Se Acabo (It's Over). In brief, the song welcomes Castro's death and laments that some didn't get to see this day.

"It's like a dream," he raps. "Now people can be free. No more 90-mile trips to the Keys. No more risking your life for freedom. I'm hoping he's dead because we don't need him." Then he slides into the Spanish chorus: "El tiempo tuyo ya pasó." (Your time has run its course.)
...
Pitbull posted Ya Se Acabo (It's Over) — its simple beat mixed with a sophisticated, cobbled-up Afro-Cuban chant — on both his Web site and his MySpace page Tuesday. By Wednesday afternoon the song had been played more than 27,000 times.
Hopefully now that Castro is out of power this could become an oppurtunity to lift the sanctions and travel ban against Cuba.

UPDATE: XXL has a streaming file of the song available for listening.

No Place for Libertarians in the BIg Tent

A former Democrat blogger at Red State, birdmojo, writes in a RedState diary that there is no realistic prospect for libertarians to be part of a strong Republican coalition. Birdmojo writes that other than cutting taxes Republicans haven't done anything to appease the libertarian parts of the coalition in recent years. But I believe Libertarian Republicans like myself just need to push the Republican party further in the Libertarian coalitions by working through the Republican Liberty Caucus and not giving up the political fight.

Prevailing Wage For Guest Workers

Over at NRO, Congressman Buck McKeon argues against the prevailing wage requirement. McKeon states that he is concerned with problems with illegal immigration and I would bet that he wants reduced number of legal immigration.

Congressman McKeon is concerned about the requirements that prevailing wages be payed to the guest workers as providing unfair competition to Americans. Yes, these Davis-Bacon style prevailing wage provisions require guest workers to be paid the prevailing wage in a community and this may cause some American workers to be paid less. But this is actually a protectionist provision designed to get employers to hire Americans rather than apply for guest workers.

Atlas Shrugged: The Trilogy

A couple months ago I remember reading reports that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were set to star in a film version of the novel Atlas Shrugged but now it it sounds like they may actually make the movie.

The book is going to be made into a trilogy of movies as Megan McCardle speculates following the success of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. There are clear differences between the two. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was based on three separate books while Atlas Shrugged is based on one book; I don't believe any one has produced a trilogy based on one book as of yet. The Lord of the Rings is full of plenty of action scenes while Atlas Shrugged does not have that appeal. I've been a big Ayn Rand for a long time and it is probably one of the reasons I am a Libertarian* but I do not know if I want to sit through 2 hours to see one third of the Atlas Shrugged.
