The Tel Aviv Trio
Tel Aviv Trio

From the CD booklet:
It was in 1994 that Jonathan, Matan and Ira, then in their early teens, gave their first performance as a piano trio.  It was at the annual spring-season concert of their school, the School of the Arts in Tel-Aviv, and to their amazement, the concert was a huge success! They were urged by their teachers to continue playing together as a trio, but at that time other youthful activities seemed more exciting.  It was only some years later, as members of the Young Musicians' Group, at the Jerusalem Music Centre, that they were reunited as a team.
Founded in 1998 under the auspices of the Jerusalem Music Centre, the Tel-Aviv Trio was immediately received with enthusiasm and great expectations by audiences and critics.

The trio has won several prestigious prizes both in Israel and in Europe:  the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Haute Alsace (first prize), the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, the Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition, the Città di Trapani International Chamber Music Competition, and the Joseph Joachim Competition in Germany.
The Tel-Aviv Trio took part in the "International Encounters" and in the International Musicians Seminar (IMS) Prussia Cove, taking master classes and collaborating with some of the world's most renowned artists such as Isaac Stern, Leon Fleischer, Bernard Greenhouse (of the Beaux Arts Trio), Steven Isserlis, Michael Tree (of the Guarneri Quartet), Tabea Zimmerman, Hatto Beyerle, Arie Vardi, Miriam Fried, Zvi Meniker and with members of the Juilliard and Emerson Quartets.
The Tel-Aviv Trio has been a many times over recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships. All three members are graduates of the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and were members of the Young Musicians' Group at the Jerusalem Music Centre.

At present, besides their activity as a trio, all three pursue their individual careers as soloists and continue their studies.
Since their foundation they have appeared in Europe, South East Asia and Australia, playing in well known music halls, such as the Berliner Philharmonie in Germany, Auditorium du Louvre and the Hôtel National des Invalides in Paris, Conde Duque in Madrid, the Wallace Collection in London, St. David's Hall in Cardiff, the Lowry Centre in Manchester, and the Louisiana Museum in Copenhagen. They have participated in several music festivals (the Bergen Chamber Music Festival and the Goslar Festival to name but a few). The trio has also performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. They have been broadcast on France Musique, Radio Italia, WQXR in the USA, ABC, NDR and on Israel's Voice of Music.

Their special interest in the historical approach to music interpretation and their eagerness to acquaint themselves with contemporary music are clearly manifested in their fresh and original interpretations. Critics have already pointed out the trio's outstanding virtuosity, brilliance and passionate expression.
