I am a story teller; I have a way with words.
My driving force? Looking back at age seventy and saying, "Man, why didn't I do it when I had the chance!"
I am living a dream.
Writer - Webster's dictionary sites a writer as,
1)Somebody who writes books, articles of similar material
2)The person who wrote a specific text.
The third and last is my favorite, and best describes the definition.
3)Somebody with a particular style of handwriting or use of language.
To me that's what a writer is - Somebody, anybody with a particular style and use of language. A writer just needs to have a way with words and a story to tell.
The third definition fits me best. As a teenager, writing got me though some rough times. My passion switched gears at age twenty-two when I met the woman that transformed me into the person I am today. Three small creatures known as children entered the picture, turning me into a sixty hour a week Tasmanian devil. Now, at thirty-eight years old, God has granted me the time to pick up my pen again, and my wife and I decided to share my story telling with the world. My goal is to have readers of fiction enjoy my story telling enough for me to be able to support my family, and continue to do what it is I enjoy most - write stories.
I enjoy writing short horror/suspense, and longer military fiction. The reseach involved in military fiction is endless, but the accuracy surrounding the story element is essential.
"The M1A1 Abrams cold steel hull thundered across the desert," seem to entice readers more than, "The tanks cold steel hull thundered acoss the desert." Don't you agree?
Short horror fiction will always be my favorite to create; turning the unbelievable into a possible reality the reader will have nightmares about as my goal. The following qoute from an unknown writer is tacked to the wall above my desk.
It's not the critic that counts.
The credit belongs to the person
in the arena - whose face is marred
by dust, sweat, and blood - who
at best knows in the end, the triumph
of high achievement, and who even
if they should fall, has dared to
venture - so that their names will never
be fould with those cold timid souls
who know neither victory nor defeat.
