Lesson: Barny - William Hill Grand Prix

Lesson description

This is the 5th lesson given by The Hendon Mob and the 2nd lesson in the series from Barny Boatman. Barny continues to bring excellent insight and humor through his comments about his play and the other players at the table. In this lesson, Barny plays an exciting Single Table Tournament from the Live, televised event at the William Hill Grand Prix.

The William Hill Grand Prix was a televised event currently showing in the UK and other countries. This invitation-only tournament had an entry fee of ,000. The excellent slow structure allowed for a lot of play which attracted a very strong field, including several top US pros such as Antonio Esfandiari, Scotty Nguyen and Phil Laak. It made for far better play than is normally seen in televised events. There were seven heats of eight players each and one runners-up heat which produced an eighth finalist. The TV shows around forty hands so the viewer gets to see a very good proportion of the key or interesting hands played. Barny‚Äôs match was a strong one, featuring three of the top Scandinavian champions, an American WSOP event winner and some tough British pros.

The lesson consists of about 40 hands, with Barny commenting on every hand, even those that he was not involved in, as well as insights into his opponents and overall live Single Table Tournament strategy. Topics covered include STT tournament strategy, evaluating preflop raises, evaluating known opponents, slow playing, bluffing and inducing bluffs.
