The Expo 86 20 year reunion is for anyone and everyone who was involved with Expo – volunteers, corporate and pavilion staff, suppliers, contractors, vendors, journalists, entertainers. If being part of Expo 86 was a part of your life, you won’t want to miss this party.
The party starts as you arrive at the Plaza of Nations to be greeted by Expo Ernie and many of your former colleagues. You can pick up an Expo Reunion Passport and – instead of stamps – start collecting the names and addresses of friends you haven’t seen in years! There will be lots of opportunities to find old friends and exchange stories and food and bar services are there to sustain you.
Entering the Plaza you will be caught up in the look and feel and sound of Expo as flags and banners fly, a video retrospective plays on the giant screen and the strains of “Something’s Happening Here” fill the Plaza. Throughout the evening, stage and street performers, some of whom entertained the crowds 20 years ago re-capture the laughter and magic of Expo 86.
Commissioner General Patrick Reid and President and Chairman Jimmy Pattison, along with others who helped make it all possible, will be on hand to welcome everyone and to share some of their memories of the making of Expo 86.
The evening climaxes with a special fireworks display – a video re-enactment of the nightly shows that lit up the sky for 164 brilliant nights in 1986.
As you depart the Plaza of Nations you will take with you once again the memories of those exciting days in each of our lives, and in the life of Vancouver, British Columbia and Canada.
DON ‘T MISS IT FOR THE WORLD
