Welcome to the National Grid Service website

The UK's National Grid Service (NGS) provides a core e-Infrastructure that underpins UK research, providing standardised access to compute resources, data resources and large scale facilities, enabling collaborative computing across the UK. The NGS also provides a national "gateway" to international collaborations.

The National Grid Service, funded by JISC, EPSRC and CCLRC, was created in October 2003 and the service entered full production in September 2004. The NGS built upon earlier work of the DTI funded Grid Support Centre and the Grid Engineering Taskforce. Today the NGS plays a fundamental role in ensuring UK leadership internationally in this key area.

The NGS is led and coordinated by the CCLRC in collaboration with the University of Manchester, the University of Oxford, the University of Edinburgh and the White Rose Grid at the University of Leeds.

Do you want to use the NGS Resources?

The NGS welcomes new people to get involved, whether it be as users, resource providers or members of industry interested in technology transfer.
