Florida's Cypress Gardens Adventure Park
to host Miss America's Outstanding Teens
Sunday, August 14 - 1:00-6:30 p.m.

Orlando, FL and Atlantic City, NJ - August 10, 2005 - Fifty-two Miss America's Outstanding Teen contestants, representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands will be in Orlando, Florida to compete in the first-ever Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant August 17-20, 2005.

The young ladies will be hosted for their first history making appearance by the Cypress Gardens Adventure Park, the Cradle of Florida Tourism on Sunday, August 14 from 1:00 - 6:30 p.m. Beth Herly, Special Assistant to Florida Governor Jeb Bush will be on hand to offer a special welcome to the contestants and their families.

The day will be filled with excitement and tremendous photo opportunities. The contestants will arrive by chartered buses at 1:00 p.m. There will be group photographs at the Park's historical Topiary Gardens and the World famous Gazebo, a special Ice Skating and Water Ski show, a visit to the newly opened Water Park, and for a grand finale, an old fashioned Southern Dinner at the historic Snively Mansion. The Mansion was built in 1942 to resemble Tara from "Gone With the Wind".

There will be an autograph session with the contestants and the public is invited to attend. Here they can meet the 52 special young women and have their photographs taken with them.

The Cypress Gardens Adventure Park is located off Highway #27 in Polk County, Florida near the city of Winter Haven. Cypress Gardens opened in 1936 and became famous for her Southern Belles in antebellum gowns and a world famous Ski Show. Ester Williams made two films there. Elvis Presley, Carol Burnett, Johnny Carson, and several former Miss America's have skied at the Park. The Park closed unexpectedly in April 2003. A grass roots organization called the "Friends of Cypress Gardens" was founded by former Miss Georgia, Burma Davis Posey. With members in all 50 states and 24 countries, they enlisted help from the state of Florida, helped to raise $13,500,000 in a short ten months, and led the successful effort to save the historic Park.

Kent Buescher of Adventure Parks Group, LLC purchased the Gardens, re-opened her gates on December 9, 2004, and added the largest expansion and renovations in the history of the Park. In addition to the historical gardens and attractions, there are now 5 coasters, over 500 wild animals, dazzling daily shows, and most recently Splash Island.

Cypress Gardens Adventure Park blends its storied past with thrilling new adventures for a unique family experience. Encounter nature at its most glorious in the historic botanical gardens and the famed butterfly arboretum. Stroll along the boardwalk over a magnificent sea of vibrant flowers. Gasp in wonder at gravity-defying water-ski shows, as Cypress Gardens once again becomes the water ski capitol of the world. Revisit the past as graceful Southern Belles stroll the picturesque grounds or visit Snively Mansion and a turn-of-the-century shopping village. New adventures abound with 39 exciting rides, including 5 roller coasters and the world’s tallest spinning rapids ride. Come face-to-face with native Florida animals and enjoy all-star concerts, spectacular seasonal events and a dazzling line-up of daily shows, including a breath-taking ice-skating extravaganza. It’s adventure for all ages! For more park information: www.cypressgardens.com or (863) 324-2111.
