Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai

Atari/PSP (£34.99)

Trying to squeeze a massive franchise on to the itty-bitty PSP may have been a problem, but the makers of the Shin Budokai fighting game have done a pretty good job. The main story version of the game actually follows the plot of the Dragon Ball Z: Rebirth of Fusion film, but this is no simple tie-in (which is just as well, as the storyline does rather tend towards the minus end of the B-movie scale).

What this game does have is a superb graphics engine that renders excellentfighting scenes. The bouts are often over quickly, but, thankfully, so are the cut- scenes.

The control system suffers somewhat from the PSP’s limitations, and the less said about the awful soundtrack the better, but these failings do not detract too much from a fun addition to an ever- increasing series. Just keep the sound turned down.
