THE ORGANIZATION AND MISSION
The City of Costa Mesa Fire Department is dedicated to providing the highest possible level of life safety, fire protection, environmental protection, and emergency medical services to the residents, business community, and visitors of Costa Mesa.
Established in 1956, the Department provides emergency services for over 104,000 residents encompassing an area of 16.8 square miles. We respond to over 8,000 calls annually, of which 65% are emergency medical service in nature.
ONE GOAL of fire suppression personnel is to safely respond to all emergency and non-emergency calls within the most expedient time frame possible. Once on the scene, our dedicated and experienced personnel expedite services for any emergency they’re faced with.
The Costa Mesa Fire Department is a participant in Central Net, an automatic mutual aid system with surrounding cities. Together, these cities provide highly trained professionals to any emergency. The closest emergency response unit is dispatched to the emergency, regardless of city boundary.
