An Open Letter to the Palestinians from an Agnostic

Speaking Truth to the Powerless: An Open Letter To The
People Commonly Called "Palestinians".

Greetings to any Palestinian who may be reading this. My name is David
White. I am a citizen of New Zealand, a small, Western, nominally Christian
country in the South Pacific Ocean. I am not Jewish, or Christian, I guess
I'm vaguely agnostic.

Writing this letter is a good way for me to discuss the horrible mess in the
Middle East, spell out as many relevant points as possible concerning the
state of the Palestinian people, and to see what can be made of them I don't
speak Arabic, so I can only communicate with English-speaking Palestinians.
There aren't many here in NZ, though, and I haven't yet met any. I don't
know how many will ever see these words, but, here's hoping someone does.

I have a post-graduate university education, and I suppose I could be called
an intellectual. Unfortunately, many such people have supported abhorrent
ideologies such as Nazism, and continue to support Communism, so I refuse to
describe myself in this way. I don't want to considered as just another
"trendy leftie" academic, as we would say in NZ. So, unlike many
university-educated types, I am anti-totalitarian, pro-peace up to a
point,pro-democracy, pro-capitalism (except the capitalists running Enron),
and skeptical about the "cult of victimhood." I'm quite safe here in New
Zealand, and no-one I know has been killed by a Palestinian.

My perspective of Palestinians is something like this - you're Arabs (of
course), mostly Muslim, but with a Christian minority. Many of you live
outside Gaza/West Bank, mostly in Jordan and other Muslim countries, with
some groups living in Western countries as well. You feel that you have been
wronged by Israel and are fighting to destroy them.

As for my perspective on Israel, I see them like this. They are a mainly
Jewish, small, free-market democracy with a large Arab minority surrounded
by hostile Arab dictatorships. They have an ancestral claim to Israel, their
state was created as a refuge from persecution, they have a right to exist,
and, having survived a holocaust in Europe, they should not have to sit
still and wait for another one in the Middle East.

A Down Under Overview.
Over the last few months, the conflict in the disputed territories of Gaza
and the West Bank has turned into a war between the Palestinian people and
Israel. (I will not apologise for using the term "disputed", as I believe it
reflects a rather complicated situation more accurately than "occupied").

Your interpretation, as far as I can tell, seems to be something like this:
You have no state of your own, and you are fighting a war against those you
call "Zionist oppressors" and "colonial imperialists", in order to create a
Palestinian state. Accusations of massacre and human rights violations by
the Israeli Army are being tossed around like confetti. Your leader, Yasser
Arafat, vows to "martyr" himself rather than "surrender", and that bungling
and incompetent organization, the United Nations (again, no apologies for
venting personal opinions), is trying to do what it is constitutionally
incapable of doing, i.e. "saving future generations from the scourge of

The Israelis see things differently, of course. For them, it's a simple
battle for survival. They offered you a state, and you attacked them
instead. They have occupied Palestinian towns, have fought it out with
various armed groups, and desperate attempts are being made by the US, other
Arab countries and the UN to break the so-called "cycle of violence". As a
result, the Palestinian situation at the moment generally, can be explained
by putting it into New Zealand idiom.

Put bluntly, the Palestinian people are buggered. Munted. Stuffed. Rooted.
(American equivalent=screwed. British equivalent: done over). It's like
this: Yasser Arafat turned down the Israeli offer of a Palestinian homeland
in Gaza and the West Bank. You want, or Arafat claims that you want, a
Palestine "from the river to the sea;" in other words, "all or nothing".

There is one insuperable obstacle to this- Israel. No matter how eloquent
your arguments or numerous your martyrs, no matter how many European
diplomats are angered by, or UN resolutions are passed against, Israel, the
Israelis are not going to pack up and leave. The only way you will get the
Palestinian state you want is to destroy Israel.

This is what you have been trying to do since 1948, and the current
"intifada" launched in 2000 is your latest effort. However, the Israelis are
not standing there and letting you kill them. They are fighting back, and if
they have to choose between their own survival and yours, guess which choice
they'll make.

A Vast Wringing Of Hands, A Great Fluttering Of Diplomats. That has been the
overall response to the disaster you have created for yourselves. You, the
Palestinian Arabs, are obviously hoping for some kind of international
intervention to save you. As we in New Zealand would say, "Get Real!".

The European Union and the UN have demonstrated on numerous occasions in the
past their incompetence and total incapacity to take any sort of firm action
without American leadership. Ask your Muslim brothers of Bosnia-Herzegovina,
about how effective the EU and the UN were in protecting them without
American intervention. In spite of the impression that American diplomatic
efforts have created, the US will not take sides against Israel, and will
eventually abandon its futile attempts at evenhandedness. If they do join
forces militarily with Israel in their war against terrorism, your fighters
will be snuffed out like candle flames.

As for your "beloved Arab brothers" in the Middle East, they make a great
deal of noise about your "liberation struggle", and have sent money and
arms, but have not sent a single tank to save you. Their diplomatic
proposals are ones that could have been offered at any time, and are aimed
at benefiting them, not Palestinians. The Egyptians themselves will not
declare war on Israel unless they receive $100 billion to cover their costs.

Do you really believe that the rest of your Arab Muslim brothers think you
are worth that much? Do you really believe they will put your interests
ahead of their own? Although your friends and Arabs in Europe are passing
sanctions and burning synagogues in your support, not a single EU warship
has sailed to your aid, and not a single NATO aircraft has dropped a single
bomb on your "Zionist oppressors".

I have noted that large numbers of people, including university educated
intellectuals support the Palestinian cause. Don't be misled by this. No
matter how many western intellectuals, news media and international
organisations may support the Palestinian struggle, none of this matters
because America stands by Israel.

The Unbearable Burden of Life
How did you get into such a mess? As you yourselves would say and have
indeed said on many occasions, it isn't your fault. It's always the "Great
Satan" America, and it's "Lesser Satan", Israel, that you blame for all your
woes. Everything that you do, such as your "martyrdom operations", are
described as the products of your "rage" at being "dispossessed of your
land", and of your "helplessness" in the face of "Zionist" might.

There are only 300 million Arabs against over 5 million Jews! How unfair!
How unjust, that so many can do so little against so few!

A number of Western commentators have put Arab failures down to numerous
cultural factors, not the least being Islam. Your religious beliefs in
martyrdom and jihad, coupled with a total inability to accept any blame for
your own predicament, have combined to do you great and lasting damage.

Look closely at why Western countries such as Israel have succeeded, and
Muslim countries have not. Western countries are free-market democracies.
Muslim countries (other than Turkey) aren't. Surely that should tell you

Why I Stand.
As I said, I do not, and I will not, support the Palestinian cause. Why not?
I have a number of reasons, and here they are:

1. You have made it clear beyond any shadow of doubt that you intend to
destroy Israel and kill or drive out its Jewish population. This is
genocide, pure and simple. You justify this by saying that Israel has
committed many crimes against your people, and that you seek "justice". I
say this in response- NOTHING WHATSOEVER is an acceptable justification for
genocide. Loss of land, humiliation at being militarily defeated - others
have suffered these and moved on to create new nations and opportunities for

Examples abound- the Germans thrown out of East Prussia in Europe, 1945, the
Nationalist Chinese who fled to Taiwan in 1949, to name but two. Germans and
Taiwanese have coped with military defeat and the loss of land. They haven't
warred with their neighbours, nor have they launched terrorist attacks upon
them. Both countries have more wealth than any Arab nation. Why can't
Palestinians cope? Are Germans and Chinese better able to deal with
adversity than Arabs?

2. You have accused the Israelis of "genocide" against you. Here's a
question for you: Israel has atomic bombs and powerful military forces. If
they really, truly wanted you all dead, they could easily do it. Why haven't
they? If the Israelis went all-out, you would be, as we say in New Zealand,
"dog tucker". Why did they spend so much time negotiating with your leaders?
Because Israel wants peace and secure borders. You refuse to give them even
those. You plan genocide and accuse Israel of the same crime. Prove it!

3. The use of terrorism. Killing people for being Jewish is despicable.
Terrorist attacks on innocent civilians are also despicable. (At this point,
I'd like to pause and get a question of nomenclature cleared up, regarding
those Palestinians who kill themselves and others with explosives strapped
to their bodies. You call them "martyrs". Western media sources and
academics debate the precise term to use in describing them. Others,
including the Israelis, call them terrorists.

I have a better, more appropriate term. I prefer to use the word
"kamikazes". The original kamikazes appeared in 1944, in the war in the
Pacific. They were Japanese Navy and Army pilots, organised into "Special
Attack Units" with orders to crash their planes into American warships, in
the hope of destroying them - "one plane, one ship". Their initial impact
was similar to that of the Al-Quaeda attacks on New York and the Pentagon-
shock and horror. (I noted that many Palestinians appeared on Western TV
celebrating the September attacks). Note: The American response, in both
cases was not the one hoped for.

Once the shock had worn off, the US set out to destroy the kamikazes, and
terrible destruction was rained down on Japan, ending only with 2 atomic
bombs. You know what is happening right now in Afghanistan to the Al-Quaeda

4. Using children as suicide bombers. Anyone who teaches children to kill
themselves in suicide attacks is not worth supporting under any
circumstances. For you to do this to your children is an abomination. A
commentator on a Web magazine said that if the Palestinians laid down their
arms, they would get peace and land. If the Israelis laid down their arms,
they would be killed. You know that is true, even if most of Europe doesn't.
Your cause is evil, because it seeks destruction at any price. Genocide is
not justice. Sacrificing your own children for the sake of your leader's
personal ambitions is wicked.

That's why I cannot support you. That's why I stand with Israel.

Palestinian Past or Future?

The Second World War in Europe ended with Hitler's suicide. He was replaced
by Admiral Doenitz who quickly made peace with the Allies. Japan's leader,
Emperor Hirohito, decided on surrender rather than see his nation destroyed.

If Arafat chooses surrender, though, will the rest of the Palestinians go
along with it? If he dies, will the war end? If the answer to both of these
questions is No, then the Palestinian people are doomed. Do you really
prefer death as a people? Do you fully comprehend what you are doing? If you
are indeed aware that the path you have embarked on leads to destruction,
and if you have freely chosen to walk in that direction, then as a people
you are truly beyond hope.

Are Palestinians really going to be a "Kamikaze Nation"? Are you really
going to give Israel no other option except your destruction? If they must
choose, then as Israeli historian Martin Van Creveld said, "better a
terrible end than terror without end".

Do not think that kamikaze tactics can get you what you want. The Israelis
can tell you all about Masada, if you ask them. Remember what happened to
the Japanese at places like Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Palestinians deserve
better than the current mess you are in now - but before you can be given
anything, you must offer a sincere peace, you must stop teaching your
children to hate, you must stop believing that "victimhood" justifies
everything and - above all other things - GIVE UP ISRAEL! Accept that you
will never go there again except perhaps as workers or tourists. Accept that
Jews are human beings. Accept the verdict of 1948 and learn to live with it.

Invest in banks, not bombs. Build computer chips, not Kalashnikovs. Teach
science and mathematics, not hate. Look to the future, not the past. Stop
blaming Americans and Jews for all your problems, and take responsibility
for your own actions. Read those parts in the Quran about living with the
"peoples of the Book".

Golda Meir, the former Israeli Prime minister, is quoted as saying " there
will be peace in the Middle East only when the Arabs love their children
more than they hate Israel ". Every time I see pictures of Palestinian
children waving guns and wearing dummy explosives, then I can only say she
is right. The alternative to peace is not victory but death.

Think about it- before it's too late.

From an Infidel to Those Who Submit, and are living in the Holy Land - May
God grant you steadfastness in the face of things that cannot be changed,
the capacity to cope with those that can be changed, and the wisdom and the
ability to tell the difference.

                    The Real Conflict
                     by Naomi Ragen

I, like most people in the world, for years assumed that the conflict
between Arabs and Israelis was a conflict about land. I assumed that this
conflict had something to do with the people losing land, wanting land,
feeling disenfranchised, deprived of rights.

Recently, I began research into terrorism, Saudi Arabia, and Islam which has
given me some startling evidence that everything that I believed in the past
could not have been further from the truth.

The fact is the conflict between the Arab and Israel is a conflict between
Muslim and Jew. Moreover, it is only a tiny part of a much wider conflict
between Muslim and all other religions, and those countries that treasure
freedom of religion. It is the conflict between fanatical and intolerant
and ignorant hordes bent on converting the world to their vision of the one
and only true faith, Islam.

The first inkling that this was the case were in the books I read on Saudi
Arabia. Did you know that it is a crime to own a Bible in Saudi Arabia, and
that people have been jailed for it? Did you know that no one is allowed to
celebrate Christmas or Easter there, and that no churches or any
denomination can be built there (let us not even talk about synagogues...)?
Did you know that Jews are not allowed into Saudi Arabia, and that all
things Jewish are a crime? Did you know that even those who practice Islam
according to the Shia tradition are also considered criminals and are

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia has been using its American-provided oil
wealth to build elaborate mosques in places all over the world which have
very few Muslims. That is what Peter Theroux (certainly no friend of
Israel) wrote in his book "Sandstorms." Even the least observant Muslim in
Saudi Arabia measured power and influence in religious terms (why else did
the kingdom spend vast fortunes on palatial mosques in places where there
were almost no Muslims? It was a subtle and informal way of marking
territory. When the city of Rome decided in 1994 to grant a building permit
for a mosque near the Holy See, the reaction of the Riyadh press (was)
jeering articles that applauded this "tanazul", relinquishing or surrender
on the part of Rome and the Vatican. Europe and all Chistendom were
gloatingly shown to have caved in to Islamic machismo. That falls easily on
Western ears and sensibilities. By allowing this propaganda to succeed,
Unlike the shrines of almost all other religions who welcome visitors of
other faiths, the Islamic cities of Mecca and Medina are forbidden to anyone
who does not practice Islam.

The desire of the Islamic world to take over Jerusalem has one reason and
only one. Islamic intolerance. Before Israel took over the Old City in
1967, it was closed to Jewish worshippers. The outbreak of violence in
Pakistan, Indonesia and parts of Africa are also being portrayed as
territorial disputes by the press. But anyone with eyes in his head can see
they too are Muslims against Hindus, Moslems against Christians, Muslims
against anyone who is not Muslim.

Of all the freedoms we hold dear in the West, no one is more precious than
the freedom of religion. Muslim immigrants are using that freedom and Saudi
petrodollars to build an Islamic empire that will threaten religious
tolerance in the West. We can already see the results with the rise of
anti-Semitism in Europe, led by Muslims who attack Jews, burn synagogues and
target religious schools. In Israel, the turnover of Christian Bethlehem to
Muslims, led directly to the destruction of the Christian Community and the
desecration of one of the holiest shrines, the Church of the Nativity which
was defiled by the Palestinians gunmen, raped of precious artifacts and then

When the West urges Israel to allow Muslim fanatics to mark more territory,
it is rewarding Muslims for their crimes against humanity. Already Muslims
have lowered the standards of decency, and brought all of the civilized
world to new lows, convincing so-called intelligent and moral people to
accept the outrages of supermarket killings, playground bombings, school bus
bombings, flying baby carriages, murdered grandmothers, blown up Seder
nights, as a legitimate part of some moral equation in which the Muslims are
always the ones with the understandable grievances that one can accept. The
Israelis murdered my brother, they explain after killing the baby,
forgetting to mention that their sibling belonged to Fatah, or Islamic
Jihad, or Hamas. And that is the way the press will present it. The
Israeli or settler (baby in the carriage) against the idealistic freedom
fighter willing to risk his life for ..you name it, any word or barbarous
acts become palatable with the help of their journalistic apologists,
helping the West to engage in its own brand of moral suicide, preparing
itself for the day when the norms of Saudi Arabia will soon be the norms of
us all.

Every inch of land Israel surrenders, gives the Muslim vision a new victory.
Infusing new strength into its megalomania. Every compromise Israel is
forced to make by the world, or its own foolish leadership, strengthens the
cynical resolve of the Muslims to expand the theatre of their conquests, and
to turn the world into the hateful prison that is Riyadh and Jeddah, places
where women walk like black ghosts, unable to work, or drive, or to go out
without permission from their husbands and fathers, a place where music is
outlawed, as well as movies and theaters, and where the worship of Jehovah
or Jesus is a jailable crime.

Should Israel cease to exist, there would be no peace. It would simply whet
the Muslim appetite to gobble up the next country and the next and the next,
until they achieve their vision of one God, one Prophet, that is the Muslim
God, Allah, and the one Muslim Prophet Mohammed.

Those of you urging Israel to compromise should look out your own windows
and think of the morning after!

                      Announcing TerrorPetition.com

Dear HonestReporting Member,

HonestReporting announces the launch of TerrorPetition.com, a major
petition drive calling on newspapers and broadcast media to label
Palestinian suicide bombers as "terrorists."

News agencies like MSNBC.com, BBC and Reuters have come under criticism
for refusing to refer to Palestinian suicide bombers as "terrorists."
Instead, they use the terms "militants," "activists," or even "freedom

TerrorPetition.com is collecting 100,000 signatures, at which point we
will present the petition to editors and executives of hundreds of media
outlets worldwide.

You can sign the petition now at http://www.TerrorPetition.com. The site
also allows you to forward the petition information to your friends.

As a member of HonestReporting, you can also take an active role in
promoting the Terror Petition on a local level.

STEP 1: To encourage others to sign the petition, you can use your
personal e-mail addresses, post flyers, and place ads in local
newsletters. An excellent info sheet is available for download at

STEP 2: Identify the major media outlets in your area, and check their
archives. When referring to Palestinian Suicide Bombers, what term did
they use? Are they called "terrorists" or not? Do they distinguish between
9/11 and suicide bombers? Do they use a wire service for their Israel
related stories, and if so did they change the reference to better suit
their policy?

STEP 3: Once you've established your local paper’s policy, contact the
managing editor and ask for a clarification of the policy in writing.

STEP 4: If you find that your paper is "boycotting" the term terrorist,
please contact us. We will assist you in organizing a local campaign to
help get the biased policy changed.

*	*	*

TerrorPetition.com was sparked by an April 2002 campaign by "Minnesotans
Against Terrorism" protesting the Minneapolis Star Tribune's policy of
refusing to call Palestinian attacks against Israeli civilians
"terrorism." The Minnesota petition was signed by U.S. Senators Paul
Wellstone and Mark Dayton, and Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura.

Criticism of the media's policy has also come from within the ranks of its
own staffers. On March 11, 2002, MSNBC.com ombudsman Dan Fischer wrote in
a column: "Suicide bombings at night clubs, pizza parlors, or wedding
celebrations are 'terrorist' attacks in my book. So is the ambush of a
civilian bus, nationalist-inspired kidnapping and murder, or the placement
of a bomb in a schoolyard. I think it's inherently inconsistent to refer,
as an MSNBC.com Mideast story did on March 7, to 'militants killing

On March 20, 2002, Fischer wrote a column confirming that MSNBC.com
"reporters and producers have been instructed not to use [the term
'terrorism'] in news reports on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict except in
direct quotations."

The BBC's policy was expressed by Joanna Mills, editor of BBC World
Update, who wrote: "It is the style of the BBC World Service to call no
one a terrorist, aware as we are that one man's terrorist is another one's
freedom fighter."

The BBC policy is dangerous because it obscures the Western world's fight
for freedom and security. To call "one man's terrorist another man's
freedom fighter" is an insult to true freedom fighters throughout history
like George Washington, Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr.

The sponsors of the Palestinian suicide attacks -- Hamas, Islamic Jihad,
and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade -- are all listed by the U.S. State Department
as terrorist organizations.

The legal definition of terrorism adopted by the US State Department
appears in Title 22 of the US Code, Section 2656f(d): "...premeditated,
politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by
subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an

Even Yasser Arafat, writing in The New York Times on February 3, 2002,
described Palestinian attacks against Israeli civilians as "terrorists."

But the media refuses to do so.

Help us influence the media in fixing this outrageous policy, by printing
out the flyer (http://www.honestreporting.com/petition/ad1.pdf) and by
visiting the petition site at http://www.TerrorPetition.com.

Thank you for your ongoing involvement in the battle against media bias.

Jerusalem, June 3, 2002

More On Our Tisha B'Av Walk

To Our Many Friends and Supporters,

The response has been enthusiastic to our announcement of our annual Walk
around the Walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, on Tisha B'Av evening, July
17, 2002, in accordance with the ancient custom.

A good many responded that they would attempt to come to Jerusalem for this
occasion and join with the expected 100,000 participants. However, there
were a great many who answered that although they could not come personally,
they wanted very much to sponsor a "Walker". They wrote that they will be
sending in their check of $25 or more to American Friends of Women in Green,
POB 7352, Jerusalem 91072, Israel, to cover the security and other costs
involved in such a Walk.

A donation made in this form will entitle those who are filing U.S. Tax
Returns to list on such returns, this charitable contribution.

We remind you that each person sponsoring a "Walker" will receive a
beautiful card indicating that they participated by proxy in the Walk around
the Walls of the Old City of Jerusalem.

What a wonderful way to get involved both spiritually and concretely. You
will be casting your lot for a unified Jerusalem. You will also be
recognizing that this Holy City is the spiritual center of the world, where
God's Divine Presence eternally resides.

Forward this missive on to your friends and family urging them to get
involved in the sanctification of Jerusalem by joining in this Walk
personally, or by sponsoring a "Walker".

Demonstration Against Return to "Aushwitz Borders"

It is with shock and horror that we hear this morning that the Israeli
government is starting the building of a fence more or less on the
Green Line-1967 borders, also called the "Aushwitz borders" by
Abba Eban.

Such a fence will not bring security. All it will do is put all
Jews within pre-67 borders into a horrible ghetto, surrounded by the
Palestinazi Authority which is still heavily armed with the most
modern weapons - guns, rockets, katyushas etc.

The building of this political fence is a deceit by the Israeli Left in
order to bring Israel back to the narrow waist of 1967.

With this fence, the left is bringing the disastrous Oslo agreements
back, through the backdoor - after the Israeli public rejected it in the

No fence will bring security.
Only the complete defeat and destruction of the enemy will bring
us back security.

Come and join our demonstration
Tomorrow, Monday, June 17th at 10:00am sharp
at the entrance to the Knesset, Jerusalem.

                 Nineteen Jews Massacred

This morning an Arab blew himself up in Jerusalem massacring 19
Jews and wounded tens of others.

This morning's attack brings the number of Jews murdered since
the beginning of the Oslo War in September 2000 to 554.
(Let's remember that from when the Oslo agreements were signed
in September 1993 till September 2000 - over 300 additional Jews
were murdered in terror attacks.)

The following is a translation of Women in Green's Hebrew beeper
release we sent to the press:

When the government of Israel stopped the "Defensive Shield"
Campaign in the middle and released Arab murderers to go on
vacation in Europe - it invited this new wave of terror.

The people of Israel do not forget that during the Defensive Shield
action - when the IDF controlled all of Judea and Samaria - there was
not one terrorist attack!

The solution to terror is thus not erecting a fence but completely
destroying the Palestinazi Authority; expelling all supporters of
terror and reinstalling Jewish-Israeli control and sovereignty over all
of Judea, Samaria and Gaza.

Jerusalem, June 20, 2002

Ruth Matar, Women In Green Hour of June 19th
The morning of June 18, a Palestinian suicide bomber murdered nineteen
people, and wounded some seventy more, when he detonated a huge nail studded
bomb on Egged bus 32A in Jerusalem. The time was 7:57 am, and the blast
completely destroyed the bus full of teenagers on their way to school, and
grownups on their way to work.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack, and praised the bomber Muhammad
al-Ghoul, a twenty-two year old University student. Israeli Internal
Security Minister Uzzi Landau said that Arafat and the Palestinian Authority
did not condemn the attack, despite media reports that they had done so. In
fact, Palestinian television announced that the attack was against settlers
and the Gilo colonialists. (Gilo, of course, is part of Jerusalem, and the
land where Gilo was built was owned by Jews since the beginning of the last

This was the 70th suicide attack since the Oslo war started in September of
2000. The murder of these nineteen Jews was joyously celebrated by the
so-called Palestinians, as these Arabs like to call themselves-they are
Arabs, pure and simple, indistinguishable from Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis
and, of course, Jordanians (which is another recent invention!)

Let us not mourn these murder victims as mere numbers. I just want to tell
you a little bit about a few of these terror victims, whose lives were so
cruelly shortened.

* One such victim was Moshe Gottlieb, father-in-law of our Woman in Green
Wendy Gottlieb. May G-d avenge his blood!

* High school students on their way to school.
   Galila Bugula, 11 years old
   Shani Avi-Tzedek
   Michal Biazi
May G-d avenge their blood!
Many names were not as yet listed in today's Jerusalem Post.

(A miracle: the son of one of my best friends missed the "death bus" because
as he was getting on the bus, he realized he forgot his bus card and ran
home to get it.)

* Another young victim: Shiri Nagari, 21 years old. Shiri just came back
safely from a year in South America only to be killed on a city bus on her
way to work. Family members showed photos of a beautiful young woman with
long blond hair, which she often braided. Her aunt recalled that when Shiri
visited Auschwitz during a trip to Poland, she wrote in her diary how she
was struck by the braided hair she saw in the museum there, so much like her
own. She wrote in her diary: "It was like meeting my family members who were
killed there. My braid is like a link between me and them." Yesterday's
murder of Shiri, tragically confirmed this link between the Nazi murderers
and our present enemies. May G-d avenge her blood!

* Rahamim Tzidkiyahu, 51 year old bus driver, was killed in his seat, his
hands still on the steering wheel. He had replaced the scheduled driver who
was late for his shift. May G-d avenge his blood!

And now for the reaction of the World to this massacre.

* With regard to the policy speech on the Mid-East by President Bush, which
is so eagerly awaited: (The following is from today's Jerusalem Post). "The
White House yesterday said that the bus bombing in Jerusalem would have no
impact on President George W. Bush's plans to deliver a speech on how to
push toward the goals of establishing a Palestinian State and restoring
security to Israel."

* Ted Turner, billionaire founder of CNN and Vice-Chairman of AOL-America On
Line Time Warner, which owns CNN, said in an interview with a British
newspaper, The Guardian:
"The Palestinians are fighting with human suicide bombers. That's all they
have. The Israelis.they have got one of the most powerful military machines
in the world. The Palestinians have nothing, so who are the terrorists? I
would make a case that both sides are involved in terrorism."

I want to point out that Ted Turner has admitted that he was wrong to call
the September 11th hijackers "brave" in a speech in Rhode Island. And this
is the man who as Vice-Chairman of AOL Warner, which owns CNN, tries to
influence public opinion of millions of TV viewers across the globe!

* Cherie Blair, wife of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, claimed that
Palestinian terrorism against Israel is a symptom of despair. "As long as
young people feel that they have no hope but to blow themselves up, you are
never going to make progress," said Cherie Blair, who appeared with Jordan's
Queen Rania, who is a Palestinian, to support a 500,000 English pound-about
$750,000--charity appeal for Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Shall we assume that she gets these views from her husband over the
breakfast table? And they are trying to tell us that Tony Blair is such a
good friend of the Jews.

(Isn't it elementary for wives of Prime Ministers not to ever express views
contrary to those held by their husbands?)

* Alexander Yakovenka, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman: He acknowledged
Israel's right to self-defense, but said that Russia is calling on Israel's
leadership "to show restraint, and not to allow terrorists to provoke a new
round of the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation."

* Condoleezza Rice told the Mercury News Editorial Board on last Friday,
June 14:
"Frankly, the Palestinian Authority, which is corrupt and cavorts with
terror is not the basis for a Palestinian State to move forward."

I was delighted, and so were many other Israelis, to read this statement of
Condoleezza Rice in the newspapers. However, the newspapers did not discuss
the rest of her remarks. I only read her complete interview on email.

Condoleezza Rice reiterated the long-standing US opposition to the expansion
of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. I want to remind our
listeners that since Judea and Samaria--not the West Bank, but Judea and
Samaria--were liberated in the 1967 War, the Arabs have built 261
settlements on Israeli government land, and Israel has built 144 such
settlements. The Arabs have built almost double the number of settlements
than the Jews in the Holy Land.

Ms. Rice also said that Israel has a responsibility to make life better for
the Palestinian people, including freedom of movement. I wonder, does
Condoleezza Rice want more suicide bombers to have freedom of movement so
that they can come to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Petach Tikva, Hadera, etc?

Rice indicated that the U.S. intends to push Israel as well, to make some
difficult decisions regarding a Palestinian State. "Israel is going to have
to do some very hard things. They are going to have to make some hard
choices, too, about how much it is ready for peace," Rice said.

While stating her belief that the Sharon government was prepared to take the
necessary steps toward a peace settlement, the national security adviser
left the door open to other possibilities. "I believe that there's one great
thing about democracy, which is if the current Israeli government isn't
willing to make those decisions and the Israeli people want to make those
decisions, they have a mechanism for actually changing the government," Rice

Pay very careful attention to what Condoleezza Rice said.
She indicated that the U.S. intends to push Israel as well, to make some
difficult decisions regarding a Palestinian State. "Israel is going to have
to do some very hard things. They are going to have to make some hard
choices, too, about how much it is ready for peace," Rice said.

I find the full Condoleezza Rice interview with Mercury News Editorial Board
very disturbing, almost threatening. She said that Israelis will have to
make some hard choices about how much they're ready for peace. Has it
occurred to Condoleezza that Israelis may not believe that a terrorist state
carved out of their G-d-given land means peace? Saying that the Israeli
People should be willing to change their current government, if it is not
willing to make decisions pleasing to the United States, sounds to me almost
like a threat to Prime Minister Sharon.

Condoleezza Rice is enthusiastic about democracy. I am all for democracy,
too. What Rice does not consider, however, is that the Israeli People may
democratically decide not to give in to American pressures, and decide not
to surrender their homeland, even if America finds this to be in her own
best interest.

* Prime Minister Ariel Sharon went to the scene of yesterday's terrorist
attack, and near the corpses in body bags, pools of blood, and burned-out
bus, wondered aloud about the Palestinian State presently high on the
international agenda.
"The horrible pictures of the acts of Palestinian murder that we saw here
are stronger than any words," Sharon said.
"It is interesting what kind of Palestinian State they have in mind. What
kind of Palestinian State? What are they talking about? The horrible thing
that we see here is a continuation of Palestinian terrorism, and against
this terrorism we must fight and struggle, and that we will do."

Jerusalem, June 21, 2002
Building the Ghetto Wall of Auschwitz

Women In Green will demonstrate at the Rose Garden in Jerusalem
((Opposite the office of the Prime Minister) during the time the Cabinet is
in session on Sunday, June 23, 2002 at 9 A.M. against the building of a
ghetto wall in the heartland of historic Israel.

The futile act is one that disgraces the dignity and nobility of the Jewish
People, and makes a mockery of its basic national aspirations. Such a wall
or fence will not provide the security that it is supposed to bring.

The Arabs who live in our midst have to make an immediate decision. Either
they wish to live in peace amongst us, or they must leave and return to the
surrounding Arab countries from which they emigrated to the Promised Land.
It is the whole Arab populace that delights in murder and mayhem, and have
done so for the years that they have been here. They can no longer extol
those who murder and are suicide bombers, and U.S. President Bush, or anyone
else should not have double standards, and have Israel tolerate the hostile
positions of the Arabs.

The Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish People as the Bible and the God of
Israel has indicated. If the Arabs wish to live in a Jewish State under
Israel sovereignty, they must do so in a peaceful and tolerant manner.

The Arabs must abandon their vicious, inhuman and bestial ways. Time and
patience is running out. If they are incapable of democratizing their Arab
leadership, and adopt the moral values of the Bible, Israel will have no
other choice but to take decisive action to protect its People from this
Arab menace.

The Moslem religion, as interpreted by the Arabs, does not seem to have any
moral influence on Arab behavior. A world that tolerates such immoral and
terroristic behavior only brings upon itself self-destruction.

Ruth Matar, Women In Green Hour of June 26th

Dear Listeners: Yesterday was one of the saddest days of my life, and also
one of the happiest days of my life.

When I woke up, I listened to Israel English radio and heard the majority of
Israeli commentators, and even government spokespersons, enthuse about
President Bush's speech about the Middle East.

Then, over breakfast, I read the Jerusalem Post. The headline on the front
page read:
"Jerusalem Delighted, Palestinians Distraught"

The Jerusalem Post also published the speech of President Bush in its
entirety. When I read this speech, I felt like crying bitter tears of

Let me hasten to say that I do believe that President Bush is a good friend
of Israel and that his policies are far superior to what we would have had
if Clintonian guidelines had continued to govern American foreign policy. If
they had, every Israeli would by now have had to sign up for advanced
swimming lessons in the Mediterranean.

However, President Bush's speech is chockfull of phrases which show that he
has bought into the Arab lies, and that he has succumbed to the incredible
pressure from the European Union, the United Nations, Russia, the twenty-two
Arab states, including such friends as Saudi Arabia and Egypt--(remember
that fifteen of the nineteen suicide bombers of September 11 were Saudi
nationals and the remaining four were Egyptians)! And the list goes on: the
big oil interests in the United States (including unfortunately, the
influence of his father George Bush, Sr. and his advisors; the CIA, under
the continued stewardship of George Tenet, which trained some of the very
Arab snipers who continually murder Israeli civilians. George Tenet is a
leftover from the Clinton administration and is very close to Colin Powell.
And let us not forget the influence of Colin Powell himself, who said about
Arafat that "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"; and the
State Department, which fought against the very creation of a Jewish State.
I believe that all these forces are continually pressuring President Bush to
act against his own convictions as a bible-believing Christian.

Now, I want to tell you why this was one of the happiest days of my life. My
granddaughter Talia, the daughter of my Co-chair and daughter-in-law Nadia
Matar, and my son David Matar, has become a Bat-Mitzvah. According to Jewish
tradition, a girl becomes a Bat-Mitzvah at the age of twelve. This means
that she has now reached the age when it is her own responsibility to
observe the commandments of HaShem as set forth in the Tenach (the Bible).

Contrast this with a young Moslem girl who all her life has been educated to
hate Jews and non-Moslems, the infidels. She has been brought up to hate;
her ideal is to become a suicide bomber, and to blow herself up in order to
kill as many people as possible in the name of Allah.

A wonderful joyous celebration was held in the Community hall of Efrat, a
modern Jewish community built on the land of biblical Ephrata. This is
where our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and our mothers, Sarah,
Rebecca and Leah lived and were buried. Mother Rachel, Jacob's first wife,
was buried nearby on the way to Bethlehem. Bethlehem, of course, is a hop,
skip and jump from Efrat, or Ephrata. Bethlehem is where King David was
born; Bethlehem is also where Jesus, the founder of Christianity, was born.

President Bush also mentions Israeli "occupation of Arab lands", and the
need to stop Israeli settlement activity in "the occupied territories". He
does this many times in his speech.

Does President Bush really believe that Efrat, where my granddaughter Talia
was born, and has lived the entire twelve years of her life, is occupied

As I have often stated: Since Israel liberated Judea, Samaria and Gaza in
1967, the Arabs have built 261 settlements in the Holy Land. That is not
called an obstacle to peace! The Jews have built virtually half of that
number of settlements, namely 144 communities. And these 144 communities are
all within our own Promised Land! These 144 communities, which include the
home of my granddaughter Talia Matar, are being called by the whole world
"the greatest obstacle to peace in the Middle East."

Yes, Efrat is not in the "West Bank", which is the term that President Bush
unfortunately uses. It is in Judea, the Biblical heartland. However,
President Bush is right. It is definitely in occupied territory. But the
occupiers are ethnic Arabs, the same Arabs with the identical fanatic Muslim
orientation as those who attacked America on September 11!

A Palestinian people is a completely fictitious term. "Palestinian" is a
geographic adjective, not an ethnic identity. If some of these Arabs have
renamed themselves "Palestinian", that does not mean that others must be
obligingly credulous and participate in the masquerade. Arafat the
Palestinian leader, for example, was born and raised in Egypt. The very term
"Palestine" was created by the Romans to efface the Jewish connection to the

At this very moment, Arafat's own official Fatah website is blunt about the
purpose of a Palestinian state: " A legitimate Palestinian entity forms the
most important weapon that Arabs have against Israel." Is President Bush
falling into the trap of handing this "most important weapon" to those
dedicated to Israel's destruction?

Let us now analyze the President's speech in detail.

President Bush repeatedly uses the term "occupation".
"It is untenable for Palestinians to live in squalor and occupation."

The ethnic Arabs living in Israel had better living standards and economic
conditions before Peres and his Oslo architects brought over Arafat and his
thugs from Tunisia.

President Bush says: "Israel also has a large stake in the success of a
democratic Palestine. Permanent occupation threatens Israel's identity and

This sounds like worldwide leftist propaganda. On the contrary, continued
Arab occupation of parts of our Holy Land does threaten Israel's identity
and democracy.

President Bush further states: "Ultimately, Israelis and Palestinians must
address the core issues that divide them if there is to be a real peace,
resolving all claims and ending the conflict between them. This means that
the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 will be ended through a settlement
negotiated between the parties, with Israeli withdrawal to secure and
recognized borders."

The Arab claim that the country was theirs and is now occupied by the Jews
is completely false and without historic basis. Israel has been the homeland
of the Jewish People since biblical times. It was subsequently "occupied"
more than 15 times. Among its occupiers were the Egyptians, the Babylonians,
the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, and the Ottoman Turks. The longest
occupiers of the Holy Land who ruled on and off for 400 years-between 1517
and 1917-were the Ottoman Turks. They were followed by the British who ruled
under a mandate of the League of Nations (later the UN) to renew a homeland
for the Jewish People.

Jews had dominion over the land of Israel for over 1,300 years before their
expulsion by the conquering Roman Empire. Moreover, Jews have had a
continuous presence in this land for over 3, 300 years.

According to Joan Peters' book From Time Immemorial, over 90% of the Arabs
migrated to Israel, only after Diaspora Jews returned to their homeland as
pioneers and miraculously rebuilt it.Mark Twain, in his travels throughout
Palestine in the middle of the 19th century, confirmed the fact that the
land was then barren, desolate and sparsely populated.

President Bush says in his speech: "I can understand the deep anger and
despair of the Palestinian people. You deserve democracy and the rule of
law. You deserve an open society and a thriving economy. You deserve a life
of hope for your children. You deserve an end to occupation."

The Arabs, who call themselves Palestinians, certainly deserve democracy,
and the rule of law and an open society, and a thriving economy, just as
much as the other Arabs in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Egypt, and Saudi
Arabia, etc. who do not have these privileges. All these poor people
certainly deserve democracy, and the rule of law and an open society, a
thriving economy and a life of hope for their children. But none of these
ethnic Arabs are entitle to a slice of G-d's Promised Land!

President Bush continually mentions "the birth of a Palestinian state" as
the panacea for all the Middle East.

Dear President Bush, your state of Texas gained its independence from Mexico
only in 1836 in the American-Mexican War. Texas joined the Union in 1845.
The present situation: Many Mexicans are infiltrating Texas illegally. They
now demand to have their own educational system, with the subjects taught in
Spanish only, in fact, they do not want to speak English at all, and they
want their children taught their own Texas-Mexican history. The same
situation, even more so, prevails in California. Dear President Bush: Would
you permit these illegal Mexicans to establish their own independent state
in the heart of Texas, just as the Arabs want to establish a state in the
heart of Israel?

The most amazing and incredulous statement in President Bush's speech is the
following: "I have a hope for the people of Muslim countries. Your
commitments to morality, and learning, and tolerance led to great historical
achievements. And those values are alive in the Islamic world today."

I seriously question how many Americans think that Moslem commitment to
morality and tolerance are alive in the Islamic world today. Certainly not
the families of people who have died as a result of suicide bombers, the
walk-in kind in Israel for the last two years, and the fly-in kind in
America on Septemeber 11.

The final quote of President Bush with which he ends his speech: "The choice
here is stark and simple. The Bible says 'I have set before you life and
death; therefore, choose life.' The time has arrived for everyone in this
conflict to choose hope, and life."

This is an extraordinary contradictory statement for President Bush to make
as a Bible-believing Christian, who knows that G-d has given the Holy Land
to the Jews as an everlasting possession. How can a new Arab terror state
inside the borders of the Holy Land possibly serve the interests of Israel
or the United States? I think the time has arrived for all Jews and
Christians to read their Bible!

As some of you may remember, I interviewed the Arab-American journalist,
Joseph Farah, about two months ago. Joseph Farah is the most visible
Arab-American critic of Yasser Arafat and the phony "Palestinian agenda".

Joseph Farah has pointed out what the Bush administration is unwilling to
recognize: "Israel is just a stopping-off point. It's necessary to chase the
Jews out of the Middle East first. Next will be the last vestige of
Christians. But the big prize is the Great Satan-the United States of
America. If Arafat and the other terrorists Israel battles emerge with even a
partial victory, they will be coming after us. There will be no end to the
bloodshed and violence. A new phase of terrorism will begin. It will be
unlike anything we have seen before. It will be relentless. And we will be
fighting alone."

How To Fairly Evaluate and Equate Suicide Bomber Attacks!

If you truly want to evaluate the extent of the horrific tragedies that have
been occurring almost daily in Israel as a result of the inhumane attacks of
Arab suicide bombers, here is a simple formula.

For example, the September 11 suicide bombings of the World Trade Center
Buildings and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as well as the crash landing
of a fourth plane near Pittsburgh, took about three thousand American lives.

The United States responded to the September 11 suicide bomber attacks in a
decisive military manner. It attacked with ferocity, with the aid of
England, and Germany the roots of the source of the said suicide bombers,
and relentlessly continues such attacks. The suicide bombings that have
been occurring in Israel over the past few months have taken a toll of
Jewish lives that exceed more than 500 Jews who have been killed and several
thousands injured.

To truly comprehend the extent of the losses Israel has suffered, one must
compare the population that exists in Israel to that of the population of
another country. The Jewish population of Israel is about 5,000,000. Since
attacks by the Arabs are directed exclusively against Jews, it is proper to
use that figure. The United States has approximately a population of some
300,000,000 England has a population of 50,000,000, Germany has a
population of 80,000,000. The ratio thus in America is 60 to 1; in England
10 to 1 and in Germany 16 to 1.

Thus the 500 deaths and thousands injured in Israel would be equivalent to
30,000 such deaths and at least 120,000 injured in the United States from
suicide bombings; in England there would have been 5,000 killed with at
least 10,000 injured; and in Germany there would have been 8,000 killed
with at least 32,000 injured. Imagine the uproar of the citizens of each of
these nations if the extraordinary number of such deaths and extensive
injuries were caused by suicide bombers in their own country. They would be
up in arms and demand their government to do whatever is necessary and to
take the severest measures to root out this evil. Yet when the murders of
Jews and the devastating injuries they are sustaining occurs in Israel,
there is not the same reaction in such countries. These and other nations
have double standards in this matter, which outlook must be morally
