Schools Chancellor Joel I. From 2000-2002 Mr. Asher was the Assistant Principal for Mathematics and Computer Science at Brooklyn Technical High School, where he doubled the number of Advanced Placement courses offered.  Additionally, Mr. Asher spent four years teaching at Tottenville High School.

“Randy Asher is an innovative and successful educator,” said Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein.  “I am confident that he will lead Brooklyn Tech, one of the jewels of the New York City public school system, into a new era of excellence.

Mr. Asher earned a BA at SUNY Buffalo, MA from Wagner College and is currently a doctoral student in education at St. John's University.  He became principal of the High School for Math, Science and Engineering in September, 2002.

“I look forward to this exciting next chapter in my educational career,” said Mr. Asher.  “I am thankful for the opportunity to take on the new challenge.”

Mr. Asher will assume his new position on March 1, 2006.  He will remain interim-acting pending completion of the C-30 process.
