We will try to ship the DVDs out within 7 days (in reality it will probably be less - see below). After all the initial costs, delivery, taxes etc. we end up with about £1.50 per DVD to help with the campaign (every penny counts!) but what we want is for people to buy this DVD and then show it to their friends, families and maybe even hire pubs with screens and show it there! This is all about raising awareness.
We now stock ONLY the cardboard sleeve edition as this reduces transport costs and unnecessary plastic packaging.
"This is just a small note so say how impressed I am with your service. To me Powerswitch is an awareness raising web site not a business, so to find that I was able to buy the DVD from you was a surprise, but then to have it arrive here so quickly puts your average business to shame! I've watched the film and even though I've been reading about all this for about 6 or 7 months now, there are parts of EoS that really hit me quite hard. I think the film is an excellent and powerful introduction to Peak for most people who know nothing about it, and I don't feel that the focus on the US really diminished its effect. " - Stephen Watson, Brighton & Hove Green Party
We are usually able to get the DVD to you within 2 working days (UK).
End of Suburbia £11.49 - includes p&p - UK only - payment via Paypal - £14.49 for orders in the EU outside UK.
THE END OF SUBURBIA: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of The American Dream
"We’re literally stuck up a cul-de-sac in a cement SUV without a fill-up" - James Howard Kunstler
Since World War II North Americans have invested much of their newfound wealth in suburbia. It has promised a sense of space, affordability, family life and upward mobility. As the population of suburban sprawl has exploded in the past 50 years, so too the suburban way of life has become embedded in the American consciousness.
Suburbia, and all it promises, has become the American Dream.
But as we enter the 21st century, serious questions are beginning to emerge about the sustainability of this way of life. With brutal honesty and a touch of irony, The End of Suburbia explores the American Way of Life and its prospects as the planet approaches a critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply. World Oil Peak and the inevitable decline of fossil fuels are upon us now, some scientists and policy makers argue in this documentary.
The consequences of inaction in the face of this global crisis are enormous. What does Oil Peak mean for North America? As energy prices skyrocket in the coming years, how will the populations of suburbia react to the collapse of their dream? Are today’s suburbs destined to become the slums of tomorrow? And what can be done NOW, individually and collectively, to avoid The End of Suburbia ?
