Project Description
Cuningham Group, SchaferRichardson and their consultants, including DeStefano + Partners, have created a concept master plan to redevelop the historic Pillsbury 'A' Mill, the adjacent historic structures, and the adjoining site. Stretching 2.5 blocks along Main Street, this prime parcel of riverfront property overlooks St. Anthony Falls and the Minneapolis skyline.

SchaferRichardson's goal for the site is to create a community on the river that is enhanced by its history, enlivened by its connections to the neighborhood and its mix of uses and housing types, and defined by its distinctive high quality architecture and landscape architecture.

Residents of Historic Main Street will live in a variety of home styles, which include lofts created from existing buildings; small flats; townhouses with ground floor entry; live/work units; new loft style condominiums; and traditional condominium homes.

The design for the approximately 7.7 acres includes reusing six existing historic buildings and adding six new mixed-use buildings. The buildings will vary in height from 6 to 27 stories and include 895 units of housing and 175,000 square feet of commercial space. The parking required for the redevelopment will be hidden from view in underground parking or parking wrapped by housing.
