Guns : All about Guns -- the myths and truths By: David K. Every
his is a summary of many arguments and my opinions on guns, and why this stuff matters. I truly believe that countries that don't understand the second ammendment and the right to bear arms, do not understand liberty and human rights.
I've done quite a bit of research and debated each of these points for many years (decades) with many people. I can still learn and grow on these topics. I just know a heck of a lot more on this subject than any anti-self-defense, and second ammendment, pro-gun-control person that I've ever met. Most of them keep defending their views (and attacking mine) from a position of over emotional ignorance (on guns). I base my opinions on knowledge, experience and facts.
In decades of searching for a rational anti-gun stance, I have yet to find it. The truth is that many people fear guns (or their neighbors) and so they will use any illogical and emotional rationalization to outlaw guns, punish gun owners or do what they can to blame a tool for the actions of people. "It is just too dangerous" or "It is too easy to lose your temper".
This isn't to say that the world is completely black and white and that I believe there shouldn't be any gun laws. But most of our gun laws are irrational and not doing any good or are actually doing harm. I dislike injustice and vilifying and persecuting a minority, and slaughtering the truth, even when that minority are only gun owners.
I realize that I can't change anyone's mind, they have to do that themselves. But I can give people some new insights, facts, and if they read and think and want to learn, then maybe (if they are open minded) I can help teach them a little about what they obviously don't know. The real reason for collecting all this information in one spot is a cathartic release for me, to just write it all down, and then I feel I can let it all go (any anger or frustration over the subject). Despoite the horrible injustices the anti-gun crowd is trying to foist on us in the name of public good.
