The Cardinal District is one of nine districts that make up the Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The District includes all of Goochland county as well as the areas of Hanover and Henrico counties west of Interstate 95. The Cardinal District serves as home to 2400 Scouts and over 1200 leaders in 37 Cub Scout Packs, 38 Boy Scout Troops, and 7 Venture Crews.

Cub Scout and Boy Scout Roundtable meetings are held from 7:30pm to 9:00pm on the first Tuesday of each month at Virginia United Methodist Church Conference Center located at 10330 Staples Mill Road in Glen Allen next to the Crossridge Shopping Center. [Click here for map]

Scouting for Food Kicks Off at UR Homecoming Game!

The Heart of Virginia Council has teamed up with the University of Richmond and the Central Virginia Food Bank to conduct a fall food drive on October 28th at UR's homecoming football game against James Madison at UR Stadium.

Scouts and adults in uniform that help collect food get in free; adult leaders and parents can get discounted tickets. Everyone bringing a food donation gets a free ticket for the opening home basketball game vs. East Carolina in the Robins Center on Tuesday, November 14, at UR! Scouts and parents, too!

Git 'R' Done - With an Axe!

As a supplement to the Introduction to Outdoor Skills, the district training committee will run in-depth training sessions on a variety of Scoutcraft skills for adult leaders. The first topic in a series of the Git ‘R’ Done sessions will be Woods Tools. Subsequent topics will include cooking, orientation, long range backpacking (such as a 50-miler), and more.

Woods Tools session will be on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at Brady Saunders. Ron Alexander will conduct the course. For more information, contact Ron Alexander at ron@kormansigns.com.
