Rep. Angel Cruz (D-180, Philadelphia) graduated from North East Catholic High School. He serves as a union organizer and was a former aide to Philadelphia City Councilman Rick Mariano prior to being elected to the House. Cruz also is Democratic ward leader for the city's 7th Ward. Cruz serves on the board of the Kensington Independence Civic Association and is co-chairman of the 25th Police Department Advisory Committee. His priority for the 2001-02 session is to bring needed resources into the 180th District, with a focus on improving housing and education. He resides in north Philadelphia with his wife, Maria.
