Thursday, December 8 -- Ann Arbor
by Eric Hananoki on December 7, 2005 - 9:41pm.
Note: In a change from previous reports, our Michigan show will be in-studio without a live audience.
We're in Ann Arbor, Michigan, home to The University of Michigan (Wolverines!), the original Borders Bookstore, and Air America's WLBY 1290. The lineup:
Micheline Maynard, the Detroit bureau chief for The New York Times, and author of “The End of Detroit: How the Big Three Lost their Grip on the American Car Market.” You can read an excerpt of the book here.
Juan Cole, a Professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History at the University of Michigan. He also writes the blog “Informed Comment” at juancole.com.
Senator Carl Levin of Michigan. A Democrat, he serves on the Intelligence Committee and is a ranking member of the Armed Services Committee.
Frank Wu, the Dean of Wayne State University Law School in Detroit. He joins us to discuss the proposed ban on Affirmative Action in Michigan—called the “Michigan Civil Rights Initiative”—headed for the fall 2006 ballot.
John Dingell, a Democratic U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 15th District, which includes Ann Arbor.
