Black Sabbath
Cross Purposes

(I.R.S.)
Release Date: 1/1/1994

Reviewed by Ben Mitchell
Having rejoined in 1992, Dio stormed out again after refusing to play as an opening act for Osbourne, so Iommi brought back Tony Martin. Released the same year, Soundgarden’s Superunknown was a far better Sabbath album than this by-the-numbers potboiler. By now completely disillusioned, Butler bailed before the indignity of the next year’s Forbidden.

STANDOUT TRACK: “Virtual Death”
