As a yearly conference, the Amsterdam Dance Event has been growing steadily in its existence for over a decade, evolving into one of the world's most prominent dance music networking events. The lineup, which was announced recently, surpasses all expectations, with a colourful collection of prolific artists likely to descend on the Dutch capital in a cacaphony of electronic soundscapes.

The sound of last year was undoutably minimal, with labels such as Kompakt and Get Physical leading the charge. The genre is well represented at the ADE this year too and many will be keen to see how the scene has progressed since its 2005 breakthrough. Its presence is strong: Flexbar hosts the Get Physical Label night on the Thursday with DJ Heidi, DJ William and DJ T on deck duty. The consistency coupled with industrious levels of output make Get Physical certaintly one of the most consistent outlets in the genre. Pokerflat Recordings add to the heavyweight German presence at the ADE program with Guido Schneider and DJ Martin Landsky appearing at hipster Club 11, on the Friday.

Thursday sees a unique gig at the Paradiso. The Southern Fried Records was set up by Norman Cook down on England's south coast as a quirky little independent label in the early 90s. Now Cook ressurects the Mighty Dub Katz (hit: Magic Carpet Ride 1995) from his pre Fatboy days. DJ Ashley Beedle from X-press 2 adds the true house quality upstairs, with Kill 100 making waves on global dancefloors. It remains to be seen if Cook will also spin under his old Pizzaman guise over the weekend too…

Long-term Amsterdam favorite and now resident Dave Clarke will play the Melkweg in his distinct and no-nonsense way, another good central location and one not to miss.

New venue The Sand will host the Frankfurt's monstrous Cocoon Club with none other than Mr German techno himself Sven Väth. Sven has a good relationship with Holland, performing here on a regular basis. He will be joined by Chilean minimal expert Ricardo Villalobos, a heavyweight in his own right.

Escape hosts the mighty Paul van Dyk (3 hour set) to celebrate 20 years of the clubs exsistence. As a rule clubs have a rather short shelf life and to keep a new generation of clubbers entertained is an achievement in itself. Cutting the cake will be fellow trance meister Markus Schulz. However, leave time to jump in a cab and head over to the Hotel Arena Tonight for the Fire! one year anniversary, with 'popes of electrohouse' Tiefschwarz on the decks. Ali and Sebastian Schwarz are making a good living from turning in credible dance remixes that also have crossover potential.

Saturday is often the really big ADE night out, as the daytime conferences have come to a close. One of the ones to watch here is Rotterdams top techno man Michel De Hey at Studio 80. This tight, intimate venue, which was allegedly funded by Amsterdam's don of house music Duncan Stutterheim himself, its superb JBL sound system and its low ceiling is perfect for De Hey and should be checked out at all costs. This DJ was resident of the Nighttown in Rotterdam for many years and has produced a plethora of singles, compilatons and runs EC Records.
