| According to UK prison officers, there is no strategy in place to combat the radicalisation and recruitment of prisoners by suspected terrorist operatives within UK prisons. The POA has warned the government that urgent steps need to be taken to prevent prisoners suspected of being terrorists from interacting with other prisoners and engaging in criminal integration and collusion. Senior prison managers have said in official correspondence that despite being aware of the problem, they are waiting for a recently formed working group on extremist prisoners to report before they take action. 114 of 316 words © Royal United Services Institute/Jane’s Information Group [End of non-subscriber extract] Customers with a paid subscription to RUSI/Jane’s Homeland Security & Resilience Monitor can access the full article here If you would like to subscribe, please see our products section for more information and pricing on Homeland Security and Resilience Monitor |
