The Rites of Spring Festival is excited to announce US symphonic prog great Starcastle as our Friday night headliner.

RoSfest is honored to announce symphonic prog great STARCASTLE as our Friday night headliner. It has been three years in the making and finally we are able to bring you the classic 70’s progressive rock band back to the stage in 2007.

Starcastle put its own stamp on the progressive rock scene back in the 70’s and was one of the most respected bands of the American prog scene.
Formed in Illinois in the late 60’s, the band that would come to be known as Starcastle toured under various names throughout the Midwest before settling with a name that so perfectly fits the majestic sound they came to be known for. Starcastle played over 200 dates a year in the 70’s and continued to perform live into the mid 1980’s.  The band toured with the likes of Gentle Giant, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas, Jethro Tull and Boston just to name a few. The band released four studio albums between 1976 and 1978. Starcastle (1976), Fountains of Light (1977), Citadel (1977) and Real to Reel (1978).  The band made a few attempts to regroup after a hiatus in the mid 80s, and work has been ongoing on their album “Song of Times”, which will be released in the near future.

Starcastle’s style is heavily bass-driven, carried by soaring Yes-like vocals, with superb instrumentation all around.  This dedicated group of musicians will feature the lineup that includes vocalist Al Lewis, formerly of Alaska, Starcastle guitarist Bruce Botts, guitarist Matt Stewart, keyboardist TBA, and drummer Steve Tassler

In 2007 we see Starcastle at the RoSfest stage for a look into the past and a leap into the future.  The band will play an ambitious set playing hits from their previous albums and tracks from their upcoming new album "Song of Times".

The Rites of Spring Festival is excited to announce US electronic music project, Tempustry, as the first act to take the stage on Friday Night.

Allen Brunelle is no stranger in the prog scene. His live performances on drums with Iluvatar (neo-prog), The Dark Aether Project (prog), Architectural Metaphor (space rock), and Todesbonden (Celtic/renaissance metal) have put him in front of audiences in Argentina, Canada, and throughout the US.  In 2005, Allen released the ‘Le Voyage du Temps’ CD as Tempustry, his electronic music project.

‘Le Voyage du Temps recalls some of the pioneers who blazed a trail for electronic progressive way back when the iconic Moog synthesizer ruled the realm. Names like Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream and Jean Michel Jarre’.  – Progression Magazine

‘If you like the past masters and grand gurus of kosmische musik, you'll like Tempustry's Le Voyage du Temps’.Aural Innovations

Coinciding with Tempustry’s appearance at RoSfest, Tempustry’s 2nd CD release, ‘Astral Gate’ promises to be an all-out unrestrained assault and innovative blurring of Berlin & Dusseldorf schools of electronic music.  Tempustry’s live show will be equally unparalleled as Allen performs with a vintage keyboard/drum stage setup that boggles the imagination, surrounded by Moog, Oberheim, and Roland analog synthesizers, sequencers, vintage Simmons and Tama electronic percussion, Zildjian cymbals, Celtic Bells, and Tama Gong Bass Drum.  Joining Allen on ‘Astral Gate’ in the studio and live on stage at RoSfest will be long-time friend and fellow synthesist, Jim Rezek (Iluvatar) on mellotron and synthesizers. Compositions will meld spacey and ethereal soundscapes, soaring leads, and subsonic salvos of electronic and acoustic motorik.

The Rites of Spring Festival is excited to announce the return of US symphonic-rock band Puppet Show opening up the festivities for 2007

RoSfest is excited to announce the return of US prog band Puppet Show, as they release their long awaited second album
"Signals from a Stone".  Puppet Show was founded in 1994 in Northern California, and played a string of concerts and festivals such as the East Bay Prog Day festival in 1995, and the inaugural Expose Concert Series event in 1996.  After releasing their debut album “Traumatized” in 1998, they were invited to play Baja Prog later that year, and ProgFest in 1999.  Following this string of festivals, the band was forced by life events to split up geographically, putting their work on the follow up to “Traumatized” nearly to a standstill.  They have completed their follow up release, and are preparing to launch it on the world in early 2007.  The band has taken their album to the next level, but still maintains the complex rhythms, passionate vocals, and fantastic keyboard/guitar interchanges for which the band became known for.  The band features the talents of Sean Frazier (vocals), Mike Grimes (keyboards), Chris Ogburn (guitar), Craig Polson (bass guitar) and new drummer Chris Mack from Iluvatar and Oblivion Sun RoSfest is pleased to welcome these guys to the festival in 2007!  Don’t forget to download the two MP3s on the RoSfest site, including one from their yet to be released album!
