Red Sox lead off batters Rick Miller and Reggie Smith belt homers off Milwaukee's Bill Parsons. In 1971, Smith also followed a leadoff homer with one of his own. Bill Lee makes the lead stand up in beating the Brewers' Bill Parsons, 3–2.
» September 2, 1974: Boston pitchers Luis Tiant and Bill Lee each allow just one run in a Labor Day doubleheader, yet both lose games to Baltimore. Ross Grimsley and Mike Cuellar toss twin 1–0 shutouts.
» July 27, 1975:
In the first of a twinbill at Shea Stadium, Red Sox CF Fred Lynn makes a great running catch to save the game for pitcher Bill Lee. Lee wins, 1–0, and then Roger Moret completes the whitewash with a 6–0 nitecap win. The losses seem to finish the Yanks pennant hopes and Bill Virdon's managing job.
» October 22, 1975: At Boston, the Sox take a 3–0 lead in the 3rd off Don Gullett, but the Reds rally to tie it in the 7th. Perez hits a 2-run shot in the 6th off Bill Lee, golfing one of the Spaceman's bloopers over the Green Monster. Jim Willoughby is relieved by Jim Burton and Joe Morgan's single wins the deciding game 4–3. The Reds come from behind in all four of their victories. Rose is named the World Series MVP.
» May 20, 1976: At New York, Carl Yastrzemski clubs two homers, giving him five in two games, to tie a ML mark. Boston wins, 8–2. Boston P Bill Lee injures his arm in a fight with Yankee players, ending up on the bottom of a pile of players. Lee never really recovers from the injury. The fight starts when Lou Piniella, running on Dwight Evans, is gunned down at the plate and barrels into Fisk. Both come up swinging and both benches clear. Lee initially blames Graig Nettles for his injury but, after viewing tapes, apologizes to the Yankee 3B. Lee then blames Billy Martin for espousing a fighting style that brought the brawl on.
» May 11, 1978: Jim Rice belts his 11th homer of the season to lead the Red Sox to a 5–4 win over Baltimore. Fred Lynn adds a single, double and triple to help Bill Lee (5–0) to his 5th win. Dennis Martinez takes the loss.

At Fenway Dwight Evans hits a pair of homers and Jim Rice hits his 16th to lead Boston to a 6–3 win over Detroit. Bill Lee goes all the way for his 7th win, and his 91st as a Red Sox.
» June 16, 1978:
After doing a morning cooking demonstration at a Boston department store, Bill Lee (7-3) storms out of the Red Sox clubhouse saying he is retiring from baseball. Lee has had arm problems in addition to the Sox allowing 10 unearned runs in Lee's last two starts. The Spaceman is also upset that yesterday the Sox sold his good friend Bernie Carbo to the Indians, reportedly saying, "Today just cost us the pennant." Lee's walkout will last one day. Despite Lee's takeoff, the Red Sox top Seattle, 6–3, as Carlton Fisk bangs two doubles, his 4th multi-hit game in a row. He has 11 doubles in his last six games.
» June 17, 1978:
The Red Sox win their 9th straight, handing the Mariners their 10th straight loss, 5–4. The Sox score two in the 9th, including a game winning single by Carl Yastrzemski. Dwight Evans had earlier parked his 15th homer. Bill Lee, wearing a "friendship first, competition second" t-shirt returns to the Sox and is fined a day's pay.
» December 7, 1978: The Red Sox trade P Bill Lee to the Expos for IF Stan Papi.
» May 31, 1979:
The Expos complete a series sweep over the Phillies, each win by a shutout. Scott Sanderson is the 1–0 winner today, following whitewashes by teammates Steve Rogers (9–0) and Bill Lee (2–0). Christensen allows just two hits in seven innings but takes the loss.
» June 9, 1979:
Tom Seaver fires a 3-hitter, retiring the last 24 batters, in the Reds 7–1 win over the Expos. As noted by Rhodes and Snyder in their Reds history, Dave Concepcion hits a red seat homer off Bill Lee.
