RICHMOND, VA-BASED CARBON LEAF SIGNS WITH VANGUARD RECORDS

INDIAN SUMMER HITS STORES ON JULY 13

Wonderful incorporation of the mandolin, and a seamless melding of pop and bluegrass. Village Voice

SANTA MONICA, CA After years as a do-it-yourself (DIY) band, Richmond, VA-based Carbon Leaf has signed with venerable independent label Vanguard Records. Their new album, Indian Summer, produced by John Morand (Guster, Sparklehorse, Camper Van Beethoven) and David Lowery (Cracker), will hit stores on July 13.

Playing 250+ dates annually, the quintet is rarely in one place for too long. Having shared stages in the past year with the Dave Matthews Band, Guster, David Gray and OAR, Carbon Leaf has built a loyal fan base nationwide. The bands fourth album, Echo Echo, sold over 40,000 units and yielded the AAA radio hit, The Boxer, which was featured in a national media campaign for Pontiacs Vibe, and was performed live before a global television audience when Carbon Leaf won an American Music Award for Best Unsigned Band in America.

Carbon Leafs music successfully merges rock/pop with great harmonies, lyrical insight and diverse arrangements. Time Out New York said the band employs mandolin in its music as successfully as any pop band weve heard since R.E.M. Performing Songwriter declared the band, a successful independent band by virtually any measure.
