Paris - France, december 20, 2002 : Ligarena announces the next «Electronic Sports World Cup» at the Futuroscope of France, Lan-Arena 2003 Trophy.
On July 8-13, 2003, The Futuroscope of France will host one of the world's biggest electronic sports competition. More than 400 competitors will be selected through qualification events over 32 countries and battle for 150.000 euros in cash prizes.
During these six days, 30,000 expected visitors will be able to watch the best games played on-stage and share the unique feelings of live high-level competitors. A cyber entertainment village and conferences will introduce the public to the different practices of video games.
Electronic Sports World Cup features three official tournaments: HL Counter-Strike (played in 5 on 5), Unreal Tournament 2003 (played in 1 on 1) and Warcraft III (played in 1 on 1). These tournaments will gather 32 teams for Counter-Strike, 32 players for Unreal Tournament 2003 and 32 players for Warcraft III. The winners of these three disciplines will be able to win 150.000 euros in cash prizes.
All gamers willing to attend one of these three tournaments will have to qualify in one of the preliminary tournaments. During the whole final event, all qualified players and teams will have dedicated hotel accomodations provided by organisation.
