Thu 2 Nov Houston Grand Opera and Jewish Community Center of Houston present Der Kaiser Von Atlantis Theater
Composed while Viktor Ullmann was a prisoner in a concentration camp, this work (The Kaiser of Atlantis) by the composer and pianist will have one performance only! The downtown Foley House on Avenida de las Americas is getting an artistic facelift this fall. From Nov. 3-Feb. 28, the Parasol Project, a psychological, visual and aural installation by sculptor Jo Ann Fleischhauer, will be on exhibit at the Victorian-era former residence of Blanche Foley. With 120 satin parasols blooming from the house and intriguing phrases illuminated onto the windows, the project is a captivating mix of Houston's historic past and contemporary present.
