     Alfred Dyke Acland was born on 19 August 1858.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bt. and Sarah Cotton.1 He married Hon. Beatrice Danvers Smith, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Henry Smith and Emily Danvers, Viscountess Hambleden, on 30 July 1885.1 He died on 22 March 1937 at age 78.1
     Alfred Dyke Acland gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1910 in the service of the Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry (Territorial Army).1 He was commnader of the Base Depot Remounts in 1915.1 He held the office of Assistant Director, Labour in 1917.1 He was decorated with the Croix de Guerre.1 He was invested as a Knight of Justice, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (K.J.St.J.).1 He was Labour Commandant of the Australian Corps in 1918.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1920.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Devon.1

     Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bt. was born on 23 August 1815 in Killerton, Exeter, Devon, England.2 He was the son of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 6th Bt. and Lydia Elizabeth Hoare. He married Sarah Cotton, daughter of William Cotton and Sarah Lane, on 14 July 1846.2 He died on 16 October 1900 at age 85 in Broad Street, London, England.2 He was buried on 19 October 1900 in Holywell Cemetery, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2
