This is the 10th anniversary edition. Yes, it's been 10 years, and we want to present our
favorite game with some style. This book contains everything you need to get started playing
Battlelords: 12 fully detailed player character races, step-by-step character generation,
extensive background information on the Alliance and life in the 23rd century, character
Fortune tables, over 150 skills, 400 pieces of weapons and equipment, over 250 matrix powers,
and the easy to use d100 percentile system. Also included are the Hell's Point campaign scenario,
the Flexsteel Jungle mini-adventure, NPCs, and Player Character Archetypes for each race to
allow you to start playing as soon as possible. The universe is infinite, and with Battlelords,
so are your gaming possibilities.

We have revamped the main rulebook to make it easier to use than ever before, and better
to look at. The 10th Anniversary Edition has 25% MORE artwork, with 70% of the
total art being new! It has undergone a complete reorganization, with racial information
consolidated, new cover art, an improved index/table of contents, new computer rules, and more!
It has been reorganized into essentially two halves: the first half taking you through character
creation step by step, with the second half giving you the rules, background info, and
Battle Master info you'll need to play. The combat system has been revamped somewhat to
include some of the innovations found in the Battlelords Journal supplement. Also, the computer
rules have been completely changed to make them much more useful and integral part of the game.
We've also greatly improved the table of contents and index. Lastly, fans of earlier editions
will note that we have upgraded the binding for the books to the Otabind system which should
give the books much longer life and will also allow them to lay flat.

So much good to say... [December 31, 2005]
Reviewed By Steve Garrett (Collingswood, NJ, USA)
|Battlelords is a well balanced, richly detailed, skill based gaming universe with a character race for just about everyone's taste...whether you want to play a combat monster, a finesse warrior, a galactic sage, a mystical healer, or control the energies of the universe with a thought (and this isn't all of the character races). The d100 system allows a level of detail that is wonderful for any experienced gamer. The chance of maiming, death or major bonus or benefit during character creation is always fun...and provides a more detailed "lived in" personality for your character. The skills section is comprehensive, the equipment section is decent, and the "magic" of the matrix users is well balanced. The physical layout of the book is straightforward and easy to follow. There are many examples of game play interspersed within the explanations. The sample adventure is well written and a great sampling of life in the Battlelords universe. A wholly enjoyable game and SSDC is very interactive on their Forums if there are any questions.

Old school gaming goodness [November 30, 2005]

|B23C is a good, old fashioned RPG from the golden age of gaming. It's unpretentous and pure fun.
It doesn't try to impress the reader with heavy science, shock him with foul language or drown him in despair. It's a real blast from the past and really reminds me of old school games.
If you're tired of expensive games in heavy hardback editions that suffer from delusions of grandeur, try B23C.
