Despite an aggressive advertising campaign against City Council member Dan Gjerde, voters elected him to serve a third term, along with incumbent Mayor Dave Turner and Planning Commissioner Meg Courtney. The Fort Bragg Timberwolves Varsity Soccer Teams played in the first round of the 2006 NCS/Les Schwab Tires Class A Boys and Girls Soccer Championships on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Timberwolf Stadium. The girls took the field first against the Mendocino Cardinals and the boys followed against the St. Vincent Mustangs. Unfortunately, both Fort Bragg teams went on to lose by the final of 1-0, but the Wolves played well enough to win, narrowly missing out on their scoring opportunities.   Full Story
 
Families, groups of co-workers and friends as well as individual walkers are invited to join runners in the fun at the 1st Annual Turkey Trot, 5K Race and 5K Fun Walk, on Nov. 11 at the Old Haul Road, a coastal view trail just north of Fort Bragg. Serious and non-serious runners will start off the event at 9:30 a.m. followed by the walkers. Awards will be given in age race divisions, and prizes for the top costumes. The Mendocino Art Center will host a retrospective of Jim Bertram's work in November in the Abramson Gallery. A memorial service will be held at the Art Center on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m.   Full Story
