Gnomedex 5.0 comes to an end

chris_scoble2.jpgGnomedex 5.0 is coming to an end. But Chris and Ponzi already have plans for next year. Here's my last shot -- of Chris and Scoble on the infamous red couch.

Blogging Adam Curry live at Gnomedex

Adam Curry is speaking to a hushed crowd at Gnomedex:
  • He calls on the blogging community to work on attention.xml
  • He announces that he intends to implement and support BitTorrent. He looks forward to working with developers to deal with the bandwidth issue.
  • Adam predicts that we're going to take the music industry back into our hearts. By playing an artist's music on our podcasts we're helping share that music with the world and generate attention and revenue for the artist.
  • We're taking our media back, and we're doing it through the power of subscription.
  • Curry thanks all the developers for the work they've been doing.
  • He thanks Dave Winer for his work on OPML, podcasting, RSS. He says: Dave we don't always agree, but I love you.
  • He tells Robert Scoble: Not only should you be running Microsoft, you already do.
  • Everyone is on their feet applauding Chris and Ponzi.
It's a big, inspiring end to Gnomedex.

Adam Curry broadcasts Daily Source Code #200 from Gnomedex stage

adam_curry2.jpgAdam Curry closes out the amazing Gnomedex 5.0 by broadcasting the 200th edition of Daily Source Code from the stage. Sargent Pepper is blasting and the geeks are starting to dance!

Curry says what I've been thinking all along: This is like Woodstock. We are several hundred of the most talented, creative minds here, and this time the world is listening. Flickr and Technorati are overflowing with what's happening here. We are the media, and the message we're sending is that we are taking back the media.

Curry calls on Apple, Real, Microsoft to listen to our plea for fuel to keep this going.

Jason Calacanis dubbed a warrior on the frontlines of participatory law.

jason.jpgLegal blogger Denise Howell, on the podium with Jason Calacanis and Buzz Bruggeman at Gnomedex, calls Jason a "warrior on the frontlines of participatory law."

Jason is telling first-person stories of how he's dealt with threats of legal action in his role as head of the largest blog network, Weblogs Inc. He gives bloggers the following from-the-trenches advice for avoiding liability:

J.D. Lasica on the personal media revolution at Gnomedex

darknetThe personal media revolution is all about finding our voices, taking back the media, and becoming part of the conversation, according to J.D. Lasica, founder of OurMedia.org. J.D. is on stage at Gnomedex talking about OurMedia and his new book Darknet -- stories about the personal media revolution and the roadblocks to grassroots media.

Chris' Dad at Gnomedex

joe_pirillo.jpgChris' Dad, Joe Pirillo, has been working hard at Gnomedex. He's running up and down the auditorium taking the microphone to audience members so they can participate. Chris says his Dad and Mom are a fixture at Gnomedex.
