comicology 099

November 26th, 2006

On today’ show I talk about super hero burn out, which means what happens when I get sort of burned out on reading super hero stuff.

I don’t want anyone to think that I’m trying to rag on super hero books, or say that I think they are bad. I read lots of super hero stuff I’m just finding that Vertigo books, and indie comics are what I’m really into right now.

I talk about books that I think are somewhere between super hero and indie books (Like Powers) are really great places to find new stories.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Jason Adams makes me laugh

November 9th, 2006

So today I’m working on stuff at the computer and a chat window opens up. I see Random Signal’s Jason Adams has sent me a message that says

Jason: sign that I read too many comic books #42 - I just read the phrase “plant explosion suit” on cnn.com and instantly thought of some sort of hybrid between The Human Bomb and The Flouronic Man

The thing is that stuff like this happens to me ALL THE TIME. It is good to know that I’m not the only one out there.

This is not your father… er older brother’s clone saga!

November 8th, 2006

Hey People,

Sorry it has been so damn long between the last show and this one… Life has been busy to say the least.

Anyway.

On today’s show I talk about the USM clone saga story line. Ths short version is this. I did not like the clone saga in the regular Spidy books a few years back. I love the clone saga in the USM.

There are spoilers so watch out.

Hope that you enjoy it.

October 29th, 2006

On today’s show I talk about the DC Vertigo book Testament by Douglas Rushkoff and Liam Sharp.

The show runs sort of short, I thought it would be longer but I just sort of ran otu of gas. Sorry about that.

With some luck there will be a new show soon.

Take care.

“The Wippins Campaign — LuLu.com comics

October 15th, 2006

Awhile backJason Adams from Random signal sent me a few comics to review on the show.

All of the books were published via LuLu a on damand printing service that anyone can use.

The first thing I talk about on the show is how using LuLu can really help you if your someone who has a book that you want to see in print…

After that I go into a review of a comic called The Wippins Campagin vy Keven Cornell. This is a VERY funny book about a graphic designer who gets hired by a deamon of sorts called the Dark Queen to create a logo for her. The humor is very dry (which I really loved), and the art was really good.

If you want to learn more about the work, or the writer/artist head over to his website and check out some of what he has over there.

On up coming shows I’ll te talking about…

1. A character Profile of the Marvel Comics character Iron Fist.
2. A review of the indie comic Tails.

I talk about how I don’t know what to do for show #100… If any one has any ideas please email me and let me know. (For real give me something, because I have no idea what to do.

I close out the show with some general talking about my other show ology.
