Metra The Way To Really Fly Station and Parking Projects

Metra Electric
  • Olympia Fields - Construction of the new 525 car parking lot has been completed.
Rock Island
  • 99th Street - Station renovation - ticket office has been relocated to temporary trailer.
Southwest Service
  • 179th - 139 parking spaces will be added by end of 2006.
  • 153rd - 731 parking spaces will be added by end of 2006.
  • 143rd - 600 parking spaces will be added by end of 2006.
  • Ashburn - Parking lot closed for new station construction; temporary parking at Wrightwood.
  • Palos Park - Station is now fully accessible to persons with disabilities.
  • Wrightwood - New station and station location, additional parking:
    • Wrightwood station entrance has been relocated to the corner of 79th and West Columbus Avenue. Automobiles will enter the new parking lot from West Columbus Avenue. Daily parking fees are $1.00. The station has new platforms, stairs and lighting and is fully accessible for customers with disabilities.
  • 143rd Orland Park - New station 2005 and additional parking.

Milwaukee District West Line
  • Cragin and Hermosa - Stations Closing:
      As you are aware, the Cragin Station will be closed as of December 11. The station nearest you might now be the new Grand/Cicero Station which is approximately 3.5 blocks away.

      To get to the new station from Cragin aboard the CTA, walk north one block on LeClaire Avenue to Grand Avenue. Take the eastbound CTA #65 Grand Avenue bus from the southwest corner (Armitage, LeClaire, and Grand) to Cicero Avenue. Walk ¼ block to the new Grand/Cicero Station.

      You can also walk one block north on LeClaire Avenue to Grand Avenue. Then walk one block southeast on Grand Avenue to Cortland Street; then walk one block east on Cortland Street to Cicero Avenue, then ½ block south on Cicero Avenue to the station.

      As you are aware, the Hermosa Station will be closed as of December 11. The station nearest you might now be the new Grand/Cicero Station which is approximately 1.5 miles away.

      To get to the new station from Hermosa via CTA, walk north two blocks on Keeler Avenue to Armitage Avenue. Take the westbound CTA #73 Armitage bus from the northeast corner (Keeler and Armitage) to Cicero Avenue. Walk south two blocks on Cicero Avenue, or take the southbound CTA #54 Cicero bus from the northwest corner (Armitage and Cicero) to Grand Avenue and walk ¼ block north to station.

  • Schaumburg - Rebuilt platforms and grade crossings will be completed by end of 2006.

Union Pacific North Line

  • Kenosha - Work is complete and station is fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

Union Pacific West Line

  • Elburn - Shelter is on target for completion by the end of 2006.
  • Geneva - Platform construction is complete; three new shelters will be completed by the end of 2006.
Union Pacific Northwest Line
  • Jefferson park - All work is complete. Awaiting an agreement with CTA on this station's opening.
  • Crystal Lake Station - Major renovation has begun on the downtown Crystal Lake station. The ticket office and waiting room have been relocated to temporary trailers on the north side of the tracks opposite the existing station. When complete, improvements will include a larger waiting area, new ticket agent office, new vendor space, restrooms, new platform shelters and decorative platform lights.
North Central Service

  • Rosemont - This station will be fully accessible by persons with disabilities by end of 2006.
  • Track and platform work being done at various stations.
Milwaukee North Line
  • Northbrook station - Outbound platform under construction. Only the first five cars closest to Shermer Road will open its doors.
