Liero Xtreme (sometimes called Liero Extreme or LieroX). It is an unofficial sequel to Liero. It was the first Liero sequel with real-time netplay and features: computer AI opponents and fully custom weapons, levels and characters. It is arguably the most popular of Liero clones and it's easy to find someone to play with over the Internet. Liero Xtreme is created by Jason JasonB Boettcher, an Australian programmer. It is written in C++.

Controversy
Liero Xtreme has been often criticized by original Liero fans for using different from original physics and having a community where the average player has little or no english skills. This has spawned quite a lot of flamewars on #liero, #lierox and the GU forums.
