IA introduces Easy Fares, but drops Apex for the Andamans 19 July 2005
Indian Airlines has announced a new scheme of fares for its Kolkata-Port Blair and Chennai-Port Blair sectors. Under the Easy Fares scheme, reservations can be made at different levels, each of which has a different fare and class name. For instance, the all-inclusive fare under this scheme on the Kolkata-Port Blair sector would be Rs 8,621 (Level 1), Rs 6,921 (Level 2), Rs 5,821 (Level 3) and Rs 4,721 (Level 4). Similarly, the fare for the Chennai-Port Blair sector would be Rs 7,921 (Level 1), Rs 6,421 (Level 2), Rs 5,421 (Level 3) and Rs 4,421 (Level 4). Tickets are allocated one level at a time — once a particular level has been sold out, tickets for the next level become available. Unlike apex fares, the new scheme requires no time limit on the purchasing of tickets in advance. In fact, apex fares on Indian Airlines have been done away with completely.
