Alliance for Life Ministries

The Wisconsin-based Alliance for Life Ministries not only rejects hate crimes legislation and prevention programs in schools, but also claims that hate crimes based on sexual orientation are a “hoax.” Alliance for Life Ministries compares programs that educate youth about tolerance to Nazi Germany; the group also rejects the concept of separation between church and state.

The Alliance for Marriage, a national coalition “dedicated to promoting marriage and reducing the epidemic of fatherless families in the United States,” formed to promote an amendment to the U.S. Constitution seeking to define marriage solely as between “a man and a woman.”

American Center for Law and Justice

Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and founded by Pat Robertson, this public interest law firm is devoted to promoting anti-abortion and what it terms “pro-family” lawsuits. It has been instrumental in the campaign to legally dismantle anti-discrimination laws that include sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as domestic partner policies across the nation. Jay Sekulow, the Center’s chief counsel, has also argued ten cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

American Conservative Union

Based in Alexandria, Virginia, this group describes itself as the “oldest right-wing lobbying organization.” It rates political candidates on right-wing social issues including homosexuality. It organized the defeat of national health care proposals and is a co-sponsor of CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference. American Conservative Union’s board members include Ralph Reed, former director of the Christian Coalition, Morton Blackwell, founder of the right-wing Leadership Institute, and Senator Jesse Helms, a notoriously anti-gay politician. >>more
